Shot the Kimber today. Me and small automatics not a match made in heaven. My grandson is going to take the concealed course with me tomorrow. I told him I'd pay for his if he wanted to go and he does.

Since Texas now recognizes open carry for CCW licencees, your carry options expand. I'm voting you go for a pearly-handled six-gun in a red rhinestone drop holster :p

Took the concealed course with my grandson today. I let him use the Kimber and I used My S&W mod 66 with 4 inch barrel. I just barely outscored him, with the HUGE advantage over him, I'd say he actually outshot me. Sorta like a lighter guy lifting the same weight as a heavier guy in weightlifting.
The open carry law has passed in Texas, but not effective until Jan 1, 2016. Gives me plenty of time to get the rhinestones set and the pink pearlies all shined up. One stat from the class is that just slightly over 3% of the Texas population has a concealed permit. Most people seem to view open carry as an invite for trouble and would prefer to continue carrying concealed. You must have the permit to carry. Guess they'll be changing the name from Concealed permit, to just permit??
I had mentioned I plan on carrying with an empty chamber. It is my total responsibility to make sure a kid does not get their hands on my gun. Sometimes the best laid plans----. To me, the extra steps to chamber a round, would reduce chances of an accident if there was a breach of those plans. This does not mean I'd be careless, because I have another safety feature, sorta like wearing a seat belt.

But of course, on the other hip! Looks great with my pink camo boonie hat and sequined boots. The way I see it, anyone in West Texas with enough intestinal fortitude to go out in public wearing a rig like that is NOT someone I'd mess with. Apologies for the semi-political side-track.....

Be like messing with "A boy named Sue". Ya just know he has to be well versed in taking care of himself. :D How come visions of Brad come to mind?

Ben, anxious to see a post on how the new Henry pump shoots.

I took it to the range a few days ago.
With CCI Mini Mag HP's it will keep 5 in your little finger nail at 50 yards.
Using the cheaper " Promo " type Fed. and Win. .22 LR, more like 3/4 " group for 5 rounds.
I had a Redfield 3 X 9 scope on it to do the testing that day.
I have since pulled that scope off the rifle.
