Ok you guys. You all encouraged me and I'm hooked on this casting thing!

I've been reloading for a good ten years now but this takes the cake for the most fun! To see the final product knowing what I put into the bullets is very gratifying!

If my wife asks why I'm spending so much time in the shop, I'm blaming it on ALL of you! HAHA!

Man, those are beautiful!

Casting isn't just another little way to expand a bit on what we do - it blows the doors wide open to a whole new world of versatility, economy and JOY!

I can't imagine having to depend on supply channels and the limitations of what little is available in jacketed and they ain't nearly as pretty.

When my wife and I were yet a "young couple," we met another young couple at one of my assignments and became good friends. The women shared interests in yarn and thread.

I shared my interests in shooting, hunting and hand-loading with him and he started buying stuff like crazy. After a year, I issued a heartfelt apology to his wife. I really felt badly about how he just went nuts spending money on this stuff.

She gave me one of those knowing woman-looks and said "Seriously? I'm GLAD he got into this stuff, because he has something to show for what he spends and he's at home messing with it, or in the woods hunting - I KNOW where he is and what he spends his money on now! She was thrilled.

And yet . . . it's just another hobby on my list!

I still build 1/24th scale car models.
I restore cars . . . mostly Ford Fairlanes now
I restore boats and used to be the supreme authority on "Glasspar" boats and the man who made it all possible "Bill Tritt" (rest in peace)
I still do wood work.
I still ride and work horses.
I still help my two grown boys on all their projects.
I still . . .
I still . . . WHEW! THE LIST IS LONG!

Plenty of truck stops around OKC to find weights. Visit the old stockyard city and eat at the 'place'. Yum. Be ready for weather - lots of it.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.

Oh jeeze!!!! There's a "hobby" that can break the bank in a heartbeat! And these guys think casting and reloading is expensive these days?!!!

I stopped by a friend's place this last spring, he and boys were out shooting some clay pigeons. He asked his oldest to go back to the house and get another box of bullets just as I was walking up.

Well, there have been a bunch of memes based around the term pew pews . . . at least here in Commiefornia. I thought of it as more of a "draw you in to the thread" kind of joke. I just thought it was funny and everybody knew the term.

I tend to be a jokester and love to look at things from the lighter side.

I just looked up the term. It appears that it started out as the sound a laser makes. Gotta be from Star Trek or some other sci-fi foolishness. If you remember, anytime a laser or phaser fires on TV or movies, it makes that PEW sound. Always amazed me how light makes noise in Hollywood.

But the search also revealed several websites that use the term pew pew. There are air rifle sites and ammo sights, mostly all black rifle oriented. I thought it might be based upon the pew pew sound many of us used as kids when we played Army and our weaponry did little more than go click when you pulled the trigger. Guess that probably contributed as well.

Sorry that your joke was lost on me, Mike. The generation gap exists at many ages. I was getting my haircut the other day and the girl who cuts it is in her 20's. I mentioned wingtips and she gave me the deer in the headlights look. Then I started talking about SNL with the other barber who is much closer to my age. We were sharing remembrances of characters from the John Belushi days and again, she had no idea who any of the characters were. One more. Many years ago, my friend Ray was a pharmacist. But he was really a rock guitarist. Worked parttime at pharmacy and played every weekend with his band. I was the sound man for the band for several years. So Ray is working one night in the pharmacy and there is a cute little girl working the register. The radio was on, and Southern Cross by Crosby, Stills and Nash came on. When it was over, the girl said to Ray, "They are really good. Have they done any other songs?" Ray was speechless.

Haha! I love it!

I'm the oldest by far on my team at work.

The other day we were having a luncheon and someone said "I'm not going to try that type of meat". I quickly said "how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?". I got blank stares. Then I said "sorry, just a little Pink Floyd". They still just stared at me like I was stupid.

I don't dare say "867-5309". LOL

A modern term for "bullets" which is a misnomer for "cartridges" or "ammo" or "ammunition". At least he didn't go for "bullet heads", "pills" or "shells".
Yeah,……. I think I’ll stick with bullets, cartridges, ammo.
I do own a couple of black guns but, they use the above terminology, and speak with a bark or crack no pew pew in my shop.
