I have bought many used molds and quite often they will come with bullets in the cavities.
I LIKE the idea of keeping a bullet in the mold box for an easy identifier. But dont leave it in the cavity(s).
I also spritz the inside with oil and wipe outsides as I would a forearm.
Knock wood, almost 40 years they haven't rusted on me. Stored in basement in shelf with re loading supplies. Used to use a steel ammo can. Now open top card board boxes. In factory plastic when I have them. I have even bought a few empty boxes off ebay!

Most of the molds I have were purchased used at Gunshows. Even some off fleabay. I keep them in factory plastic boxes, even to the point of actually buying the extra new Lyman boxes when they came out about 30ys ago. I sure liked those, a lot better then the newer longer skinny boxes they make now. And some plastic S-market boxes for the big aluminum molds from N.0.E. & Accurate. Lee 6cav stay in the factory boxes.
I oil the mold faces, sprue plate and top of the mold for storage. Unless I'm going to be casting with that mold sometime in the next 2 weeks.
Then I set the mold with handles still attached on Top of the dehumidifier bar on the top shelf of my gun safe.

Putting a bullet from that particular mold into it's box sounds like a great idea.
