New Henry for me

I had my bud at the LGS order me a Big Boy 45 Colt a few months ago, just got it paid off and brought it home today. Shot it a bit, first snag, the loads I have on hand I loaded for my Blackhawk oal is entirely too long to load through the action. So, I single loaded. Shoots pretty fair, open sights, which I don't do much these days. Just kinda bummed about the oal. Nice smooth action, fit and finish, fair trigger.

Loading for an N-frame 357 Magnum kept my on-hand 357s within spec for my Henry BB 357. There is a whole lot of 'Marlinism' to the Henry leverguns, and the two makes share a hard limit of ~1.61" COAL on their pistol-caliber carbines.

The NOE 290 rf will work for yah it comes out around 1.595-1.6 oal, also the Lee 300 gc has 2 crimp grooves.

Welcome to the club, SMac! Did you get a brass one with octagonal barrel or the all steel wity round barrel? Did you check the twist rate?

Mine will take cartridges loaded to 1.620" length with rfn bullets and not a smidge longer. 1.600" SAAMI max is even better.

Mine is all steel, round barrel. Supposed to be 1 in 16.

Bought one used for a great price. Also the 45 Steel round. Love it so far, only shot it a bit. It will take slightly longer than factory spec. Can't remember exactly how long mine are, but iirc, at least .010-.020 over. But was the 454190 RNFP, so might have had something to do with it. Haven't pushed the OAL - just grabbed loads I already had for revolvers. It would shoot the Lee LSWC - a BIG plus for me!

I had a brass single shot 45/70 in my hands yesterday. I was VERY IMPRESSED!!

I SO MUCH wanted a Golden boy 22 untill I got one in my hands. The drop In the butt stock was a stinker. I cannot do it. I dont wanna shoot off my bicept!
I am not sure all calibers they are offered in but I will find out!!

A local friend got same about a month back. I still haven't fired it, probably shouldn't. It's money I don't want to spend right now.

I actually have 3 Henrys. the 45 Colt, and a 22 and 22 Mag, both with octagon bbls. Very happy with them all.
