Couple items that I wasn't aware of on the net;

Hawk Bullets has zinc washers for the old Harvy zinc bases moulds. Looked for them but they have them. Pricey but if you have a Harvy mould and no washeres, here they are.

Buffalo Arms has a gee whiz set of mould handles that's new to me. Pretty satisfied with RCBS but you might take a look./beagle

crap,, now that i think of it i do have one of those molds,,, and i think some of the washers [i think i have some of the washers for the mold i don't have too] plus the swage set to mash the little nib down flat over the washer hole and slightly re-size everything.
that last step is what does the magic.

I have one of them harvey molds,but have never cast any,because of the washer issue.why i havent bought washers,is because upon reading at the hawk site,,,they eventually lay down a zinc coating,and then they can be shot foreever,with no fouling.im kinda leary about it now.

zinc does lay a coating down in the barrel.
it's just like the old style motor oil did in your cars engine. [the government made them remove it because it would also coat the pellets in your catalytic converter]
think the design on the back of a turtles shell, those little gaps hold lube in them.

Would shooting gascheck bullets,scrub the zinc out,and defeat the purpose of this method?

not really.
the zinc doesn't hurt anything, it just is there.
eventually you'd wear it down, but like 25-K rounds are gonna take a while.
easy enough to put it back too.... and if your really worried about it you could just make up some lube containing ZDDP to help maintain the coating.

The thing about removing the zinc in the oils also means death to regular flat tappet cam shafts in all of the older non roller cam engines. Everyone says to just run shell rotella coal oil but it does not have the right formula of zinc to protect the cams. yes it has some zinc but not the right amounts or type.

There's the fresh water pearl .
It explains why the longer you use Darrs lube the better it works and why it works well past it's perceived design limits .......

I always ran Brad Penn oil when I was racing. There was another one everyone ran but I can't remember it anymore.
