New to the forum, but not to casting

Hey folks, checking in. let's get down to it:

I like to delve into the actual words of the period of how something was done. Did a bit of scouring Google Books in the 1870-1930 period. Found some interesting articles.

Scroll down to The Vault. I am slowly HTML-ifying a number of period articles that I originally posted to another forum. Thankfully, I have the bulk of my working documents plus the images, so it is fairly quick to assemble pages.

Please remember this is PERIOD terminology, society, metallurgy, chemistry, and sadly, less litiginous society. As I have gone through the period articles that cover casting, I am taken with the pretty modern concepts in use. Except we do NOT use mercury to add weight to lead and harden the lead as well (elephant hunting...)

For those shooting cast from a Krag or a Springfield, you are in luck as the significant advances in casting, shapes, powder, etc. were given a boost by the desire to practice at a low price (skirmish, sub-skirmish...)
