So I blew off doing work, chores, & other projects to take my lady to the range this afternoon. We only took a few handguns out with us.

Low and behold we found 15.5 lbs. of orphaned range Brass. Umm....I'll take it!

Not a stellar handgunner by any means and visually handicapped a bit with mono vision. My left eye is set for about arms length focus & right eye for distance. I've been struggling to get back to where I was 5 years ago . Made a little progress today.

The square is 2x2" & the group is 16 rounds fired @15yds standing with no rest.

Somewhere between 15-20yd my left eye which can see the sights clearly makes the target very fuzzy. Really having a hard time with opens sights past 20 yards sad, use to practice at 50 regularly.

We were using up some tumble lubed lee 90457 bullets over red dot I've had loaded a couple years now. They were cast hot/ fast & loaded into mixed previously orphaned brass.

The xd is a spectacular gun imo, I can't say enough good about it. This one is a standard 4" service model. It's never had an honest malfunction in over 16k rounds.

These were our fireworks and we had a great time. Cheers!

You're too kind to orphaned brass, you even brought home one little rusty Soviet case!

Chores are over-rated. I put off knocking through the rock at the bottom of eight post holes to make them the full depth I need, there were too many "chores" needing attention at the loading and shooting bench.

I'm off all week. I plan on doing a whole lotta nothing.

How muddy was the range? I'm going out there Tues to help set up for the big pistol match next weekend. Figured I might as well be helpful.

I hadn't noticed the rusty case lol. Just layed it out to dry. I save a bucket full and let folks I'm helping get started sort it. Then we'll load & split it. Makes cheap plinking ammo & I'm not alone in my struggle for time to do it all myself.

It's quite muddy. No lead collecting!

I do reload the non rusted Berdan steel cases with lead.

No lead collecting but shooting when muddy helps turn over the berm. Brings bullets to the surface to be collected later. I have been known to bring heavy loads when muddy for just the reason.

Indeed they do turn the berm over. We also shot some mp 300 gr over tg loads and they were throwing mud chunks 20' off the berm. They are chewed up and ready for picking when they dry up some. I haven't collected any this year..sad.

I have about 300 pounds so far. That makes me ahead for the year. I figure I can get another 200 pretty easily if I spend the time.

That's definitely better than my 0 lb . I was considering buying some scrap to supplement this year as I've not found the time to collect any. To many projects.
