Yepper, your one of the earliest members here. Just mouse over your name or avatar, a window pops up and in that window will be your join date and the last page here you looked at. While mousing over your name look in the lower left of the screen, the URL of this forum is there and the number on the far right of that address is your member number. Using you as an example Bret is member #107. If you want to know the start date of this forum mouse over any of the first members and their member number, Kevin #1, Brad #2, me #3. The join date is the very first day this forum was online. March 5, 2015.

I can't see member number just by mousing over their avatar. Must be a moderator function.

IIRC Bret joined early but didn't really start posting until a couple years later.

To see member number I click on the name of the individual in their profile. Then click on the address line at the top of the browser. Look at the number after the user name.

if you hover it pops up in the little space bar down in the left hand corner above your icons.
I use it all the time on different boards.

There is some confusion in ways as some people, largely spammers, never complete the process. They are assigned a number but never actually “join” fully so there are gaps in the numbers.
The forum software showed KeithB as the 500th member but he was the 500th full member.

I'm 67 it took me a little while to clear some stuff up to join, but apparently not too long.

That's interesting.

I was going to look for a link to post for Smokey. He mentioned maybe putting shutters on the shop & bullet hole window. In researching tornado resistant construction techniques I come across some interesting methods that could be adapted to make some small arms resistant shutters. I didn't find the link 'cause he took a break. I didn't see anything wrong with the security view/opinion Rick has, if it does seem californified to my noggin.

I remember chuckling at the bicycle comments on lunch break. Nothing wrong with them, just that I see the cyclists pov to. Have a good friend that rides some 6k+ carbon fiber bike obscene miles. The stories he shared about being targeted by motorists left me looking for a tactful way to say...

Yes I agree, you were in the right but it's your friends and family that will be notified . We don't want that.

I see how avid riders may take wrong or have strong disagreement. They feel targeted & sometimes are. That makes for defensive.
Kinda like we have the right to do many things, that don't make them a good plan. Riding on a city street with traffic...no thanks.

I was once an avid bicyclist . 10-11 miles each day M-F . Twice I layed my bike down once I had to put a hand up to stay out of a pick up bed . I don't recall being challenged by autos . Of course I was on a mission to get to school , home , and work . But those 3 occasions a driver just pulled out and stopped for whatever reason .

Motorcycles now I hear riders all the time say drivers don't see us ......
If I could count the number of times I've seen them ride the line , slip between bumpers , crowd doors , and sling shot overtaking lane changes presumably just because they have the weight to power acceleration ability . Of course I've seen a number of no fault motorcycle incidents where the auto was absolutely wrong .

Purely observation and not an inflection on bikes their pilots or drivers I'm sure we've all done something dumb behind the throttle .

I had a bicyclist HIT THE TAILGATE of my truck from directly behind. I was slowing to a stop. He even said it was his fault for having his head down.

My insurance still paid for his high $$ bike. Agent said it doesn't matter.....if there's a bike involved, auto person pays. How ____ed up is that?

To be honest, this is the worst tiff I have heard about in the five years and all the members here. And it’s not really all that bad imo. That speaks volumes for the site, it’s members, and the good folks that keep this place up and running. Thanks for having me here.

**** WARNING,joke alert****

Waco, you're the only one that knows how to fly them drones. We'd be lost without you. Well that, and your videos.

I still think about that drone you almost lost. Not the drone but the forest it would've gone down in.

I would like to have a pact with all bicyclists - I'll do everything I can to not hit you if you'll stop pretending you're invulnerable.

Amen, Keith (You can't fix stupid!)!

Waco, et al., A neighbors nephew in FL used his drone for fishing, i.e., to carry a baited fishing rig beyond the breakers (and farther than he could cast). The thing died for some reason and went directly into the ocean for a total and expensive loss: Don't know if he learned a lesson or not.

Maven, the drone loss reminds me a joke we to tell at the truss shed- "Hey, what do you call a boomerang that doesn't come back?" "A stick." ;)

Any of our recreational playthings can be misused or abused. And--accidents happen. No evil machinations or hidden agendas at play, just not-quite perfect beings having lapses or dividing their attention......and Murphy is ALWAYS on duty. My answer to "Getting the bait out to where the fish hang out" is A LOT more expensive than drone ride/auger-in.......the Triumph 170 center console/60 HP Yamaha method.
