Powder Measure vs. Powder Drop

I have always called anything that held bullets that is not permanently attached to the gun (or at least detached without removing a screw) a clip for years. I still refer to detachable magazines as clips, because to me they are attachable automatic feeding clips. So to me the terms are pretty much interchangeable. I am 53 I am not going to change now.
Now TO AVOID CONFUSION. For my AR15 the metal thingy that holds a string of 10 bullets is a clip and I put that against a magazine, and push the bullets into the magazine from the clip..

Now a pistol cartridge has a bullet in it. At least in most cases, does it not? So if I were to put 38 special cartridges into my revolver, would I not be also putting bullets in my gun? Or do I take them out and put them in later?

Someone please correct me if I am wrong: The technical term is a charger. According to Mr. Mauser, who invented the device.

KILLJOY:p
OK IF WERE GOING TO GET TECHNICAL LETS GO ALL THE WAY
* The clip is ejected or falls from the rifle on the last round. The clip was invented by Ferdinand Mannlicher.
* The Charger, nick named the stripper clip (because the clip came first) was invented by Mauser. And falls free or is removed before the first bullet is fired, allowing the action to be closed.
* The detachable box magazine was invented by Arthur Savage. It is detachable at any time.
But I am still not going to change my vocabulary.:p:D:cool:

Clip for 30-30 . It's stamped right there in plain English right out in front of God and everybody . Circa 1950 Savage Arms Co for 325 through 325 C . 1946-1951 .

The clip in the Carcano rifles was in fact an enblock type and acted as both a charger and magazine falling out the bottom when the 6th round was chambered .

I had a cute picture for here of a tall boy pill bottle that hold 5 1917/model 25 6 round clips of 45 ACP . That would make it a 30 round 45 ACP clip magazine .

Honestly we get too wrapped up about mags and clips . A closed removable box is a Magazine and an open exposed ammunition retainer is a clip . Bunkers are found in magazine areas also because American English is razed by its own definitions all the time .
