Powder Question

Just realized there is no section for powders. Went to load some MilSurp 4895 and the powder is clumped together. Smells as usual, powder looks fine, just all one big lump. Shook it up some and it's still got big clumps in the bottle. I think I'll dump it but hate to throw away 300 30/30 loads worth. Opinions ?

Sounds like a moisture or temperature storage problem, or maybe both.
Yah, I would hate to dump that much powder also.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Have you tried breaking it up by hand to see what the clumps look like on the inside?

Yes I did, they looked normal as they came apart into smaller lumps, and a good deal of the powder split into the normal kernels, but the smell did not seem right. No red dust. Anyway, we'll see if the powder stimulates any growth in the yard.

If broken up in different size granules from original it would change the burn speed. Sounds like humidity clumping. I dunno.

I think it was humidity clumping as has been suggested. The bottle had been opened several times over the years and the lid did not have a seal in it. Everything is in the AC'ed basement so no real change in humidity there. Never had this happen before. I think it was the missing seal in the lid.
