Problem Mould #2 Video

That was absolutely agonizing to watch in 1.2-second bursts with 2-second pause in between. Non-buffered video media is a frustrating format.

I tend to cast a little faster than you do with a six-cavity aluminum .45 mould, but I also end up having to use a fan to cool the sprue. Reason is I too use a tin-starved alloy and the choice is run the pot hotter or mould blocks faster/hotter, or both, it just depends on what I need the final size of the bullet to be or how fast and furious I want to run.

It amazes me how many people have trouble getting aluminum moulds to work, just goes to show they never learned the principles of what made their iron moulds work, so they have no frame of reference for adjustment of the factors involved.

Sorry about that. I don't understand the format you're speaking of? The video runs smooth for me so any help/suggestions are welcome.

I'm on a 2.6-2.8 Mbps internet connection, which may not be fast enough to run the video smoothly. Unlike the format from youtube, which buffers way ahead of real-time and allows for bumps in the connection, the format of the FB video has virtually no buffer zone, so there are constant stoppages and no way to let it sit and download a few seconds ahead so it will play smoothly. If I pause what's been played and rewind, it goes smoothly, but I have to let it play through almost to the end first, then drag back the progress bar and start over. Maybe it's just me, but my connection and computer will run youtube HD videos all day long with nary a hickey.

Thanks Ian that helps me get the picture. Like you, I've experienced the Buffer Zone & it sucks.

Ian.....I'm on a 10.0 Mbps connection and it behaves as yours did. Watching it a second time it didn't buffer at all.

John, that's the Magma pot & same as mine. Lynn has the fan on it from the auto casting machine & I have the digital temp control but same pot.

But yours is set up for ladle casting......so I've not seen it operate as a bottom pour....which is what I prefer.

??? Mine is bottom pour and exactly the same as Lynn's. I just prefer to ladle, doesn't mean it can't dump from the bottom.

And just like Lynn's it fills two cavities at the same time. :D A four cavity mold is like casting with a two cavity.

Very nice to be able to drop two streams. One of these days when my antique Lee pot finally gives up the ghost (won't be long) I might have to cough up the dough for a real casting pot.

The Magma Master Pot is certainly a fine tool. It's a little much for the hobby caster but for what I did it was perfect. From speaking with other casters perhaps the best step up from the Lee is the RCBS but my information is 15 years old.

Ah need a pawt like thaaaat.

Video was fine for me, no buffering issues. I even got a good feel for the drawl. Nice to see a video that is well planned out and shows what is needed. Well done.

Nice bullets. All my MP moulds are 2 or 4 cav brass, never saw a 6 cav from him. That should make a heap of bullets in a hurry.

I kept telling you guy's the 40 lb pot was the way to go.
no drips no issues.
you can get a single orifice cap, a blank cap, or the double hole cap.
I even cast with 3 and 5 cavity molds using the double orifice cap.
I keep a little metal topped wooden box under the pot and just drag my molds under the spout then let go of them and count.
I only pick up the mold to empty it and close it, then set it right back down on the box.

oh go to settings and unclick the HD setting, it speeds the video up about 5,000%
Guys, when fiver schools us on tech issues it is pretty bad. This guy has a hard time posting a photo.:(

Anyone that hasn't cast with 40 pounds of all the same alloy hasn't lived. Buyer's remorse will last no longer than the middle of your first casting session.

He can't post pictures, he has his wife do it.
