Ready to test Glen's Black

IMG_0934.JPG I have already loaded up some .308's with Red Dot. A proven load in my rifle. All things being equal I just used the new lube.
We will see how it works.
I loaded a bunch of 158gr RNFP .38spl's with Red Dot also. 3.2gr if memory serves. I just sized and lubed 25 Accurate 43-320D
This is a copy of the Lee 310gr 44 Mag bullet but without the gascheck.
These will be loaded mild with 15gr of 2400. I'm hoping to go test this stuff on Sunday. I hope to report back on my loads and my first batch of homemade lube. Wish me luck.
Walter.

I have had the ingredients on the shelf for a couple years. Have not yet found
the correct type of round tuit, it would seem.

The correct round tuit is easily made on the lathe BUT you first need to find the plans online. I wouldn't bother trying, it takes time from other more interesting or pressing projects.

My plans got lost somewhere along with my gumption.

I made some round tuits on a wood lathe when I worked at the cabinet shop, but I lost them in the hereafters.

How's the weather in Oregon today?

It misted rain here most of the day but broke just long enough to go shoot my A2 rifle with a can. Sucker is louder than my M4. I have some work to do on the baffle apertures yet it would seem.

Gumption, like youth, is wasted on the young. I'm just old enough now to begin seeing that.

The weather was great for shooting. Sunny calm and 45 degrees. The new lube worked great! Proven loads seemed to shoot just as well with this lube rather than BAC.

The .38 loads were 158gh RNFP over 3.2gr Red Dot and some with Titegroup

The 44 loads were 310 PB copies of the Lee bullet over 15gr of 2400

I also got to shoot some of the new 165gr RD bullets in my Savage 340 30-30

I was VERY happy with this bullet. The best load was 29.5gr H4895. Shot of a bench at 50 yards with open sights I shot a 12 shot group into less than 2"

I ran out of ammo before I could Chrony that load but I did Chrony the same bullet over a full charge of H335 for 2000fps with almost the same accuracy.

All in all I was very pleased. Have a good few hours in the hills with my brother. It was a good day.
