Other than 1 " wild round " that I take full credit for, I was really impressed with the way my Mihec 150 gr. Penta Point HP shot in my 9mm Ruger Carbine today.

Ben you inspired me to get a 9mm carbine. I had to go the HiPoint rout though.
Which of Mihec mold's do you have?

Up Date

I came home and pushed a single clean cotton patch ( no oil , no bore cleaning solvent ) through the barrel of my Ruger, 9mm Carbine.
Zero leading, bore shines.
The penta point bullet in my 9mm is working out great.

Get me the OAL, bullet length and weight, and charge and I can see what QL says.

I would imagine in the 1200 FPS range.

Brad,

Load data as follows :

9mm Luger RP Brass
Bullet OAL .641
Bullet Weight 150 grs.
Bullet Dia. .3570
Loaded round OAL 1.075"
Wolf Small Pistol Primer
Fired from 16" barrel Ruger Carbine
__

BTW, I saw zero pressure signs with the Herco, 4.2 load.
I came home and I'm loading 50 rds with 4.3 of Herco to test.

Many thanks,
Ben

QL estimates 1177 FPS.
You are right at max pressure.

OK Brad.

Looks like your guess was 23 fps off. Pretty good guess.
Maybe I need to stay at 4.2 if your data shows I'm at the limit on Herco.

1177 fps with a 150 gr. HP still translates into a mid range 357 Mag type load, 17 rds or 32 rds. of which sit in a Glock Mag ready to head down range as fast as you can pull the trigger. I like this rifle.
Oh, did I mention with over 600 rounds of various nose styles and powder charges shot through the rifle , it has had zero malfunctions.

Brad, Thanks again for your efforts,
Ben

No trying to details the thread but a quick question for brad is quickload worth the money or is there a better program??
Been thinking about getting a program of some sort like quick load for a while now.

Now Back to your regular scheduled program
:)

Is QL worth the money? To me it certainly is.
Give me a little time and I will post some data that will open your eyes to what it can do. I am sure Ian will chime in with how it helped him.

Good to know and Thank you!
I like having lots of data and being able to create, track, record data.
Have not researched the load programs much but it’s in my really near future!
I live the thought of being able to roll thru many options to help develop quality starting points for specific loads.

I pick it up this week.
If it shoots a 1/3 as good as yours. I am going to order a bullpup stock to replace the UUUGLY factory stock.
