We set up an old'ish Python "Hunter",8"..2x Loopy...
Awhile back.The mounts(Leupold) just weren't up to the task.Just sayin,I shot 15k worth of .38 sp through this classic in one year...so,knew it well.
But that was with factory irons.When putting the scope back on it,the mounts left a little to be desired.I machined a brass,tapered pce that took out the slop under the mounts.It put exactly the right amt of pre-load,or upwards pressure that we noticed the difference on paper.
So,once past the notion that you should,"never touch a Python"....
I machined a sling swivel that goes on the underlug part of brrl.Then made the attendant pce that interfaces with the,gasp,Houge grip.
So,my scoped 8" Python is "slung" .Albeit a custom strap.I carry it when walking the woods with my g-baby's.Their fathers (my boys) just shake heads.
