Sage Outdoors Gas Checks

Shamus Sage may be a member here?
He took over the business when his father James passed away.
I talked with James a few times over the years about GCs and custom sizes and such...was a great guy. I even bought a FCIII die (22 cal) from him, that was a spare of his. He had about every type of GC dies, using different presses and even a couple automated machines punching GCs. He bought a couple real old powered punch Presses (WWII vintage) that were setup for 30 cal and 35 cal GCs, from a CB member named "WindPower", I never knew his real name? He was selling alum GCs on ebay way back when, for prices that were just crazy low...then just quit, don't know why?

I have used his copper (.017) and gators from him. No difference in accuracy. His 30's may have a slightly wider mouth than Gators, but I would use either one.

Since the CBA says a check can be as high as .100" (correct me if I'm wrong), the gas check area on a cast bullet is easily that long/deep. Why not use that space with a check?

I’ve ordered from them three times in the past year and could not be happier with them. They ship really fast and my orders have been correct. Only other checks I’ve ever used were Hornady and I can’t tell the difference in the copper ones. Oh, and their prices are the lowest I’ve seen.

Sage gas checks are very nice! Got lucky and found 6.5 mm and .30 cal gator checks in stock. Very fast shipping. Used the 6.5mm today on my new Lyman 266673. Interesting that they fit like the old Lyman produced checks, needing a dab of lube on the bullet base to keep the check on until it goes through the lubri-sizer. After the trip through the sizer they fit square and tight. Next step is to get some reasonably calm weather and seeing if they shoot.

Will size and gas check some .30s for known loads with the .30 Sage gators too.

Sage gas checks are a quality product at a fair price. Thanks for the advice and reviews.

Another place to watch for stuff to be in stock and order fast.

I just visited his web site.
Everything is OUT OF STOCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like I won't be ordering any gas checks.

Must have been a site issue. As of right now I get "Choose options" for 21 calibers and, as a test, successfully added .41, 7mm, & .270 copper checks to my cart.

That`s the right site Ben.
I just check in regularly when I need some checks and order when they are in stock.
