Mount/base is set up for Kimber style double lever scope rings. Low enough so as to allow use of the open sights, when scope is removed. Also have other sight options............a Leo 2X blue handgun scope and an Ultradot, in Kimber rings.

Ric in Yakima, I like it! I've been thinking of adding a J frame rear sight to my Colt Army Special 32-20 for years. Just haven't got the guts to try it. It's a snapper with the hog wallow in the top strap, but the front would need to be higher and I haven't got that figured out yet.
I haven't either! That is why the ugly narrow front sight from a 94 Win. Rear sight modification was fairly easy, once everything was laid out correctly.

As Bill mentioned, Lew Horton is a distributor, and back in the mid-80s realized there was a demand for .44 Specials and had S&W make that limited run.

I posted in another thread that a new-in-the box 3" 24-3 recently sold for $1800, locally. Saw a Gunbroker auctioned 24-3 that sold for just under $1700, within the last year.

Oh, and their triggers -- man, oh, man, if only Ruger would do the same . . .

If only Ruger would do the same....they would cost almost as much as a Smiff.

I got a 624 last night on GB for under $900. Looks to be nearly unfired, target grips, with box.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.

THere used to be an outfit making a band type front sight base that you could sweat on, or probably glue these days. It's been 10-15 years since I've seen one. NEGC maybe? Have to look around. Is that sight base milled in?

Bill,

Cool man! Regardless the barrel length, you will really enjoy the gun.

Yes, I stood the barrel on end in the rotary table and cut away everything that didn't look like a sight base. Then put it in the lathe and contoured the rest of the barrel on centers. That took me a whole day in the shop, as I just play being a machinist.

462, it is a 6". There is one with a spare 4 inch bbl included for sale, too.
Sent PMO this AM, now we wait for shipping to FFL. I will have to check the recall, it is a 1985 gun, but SN is AHBXXXX, affected includes "AHXXXX". Not sure if the B rather than a number excludes it. Will check with S&W on that SN.

My posted pictures have multiple barrel lengths covered, and without the need for specialty tools and unnecessary time and effort.

Well....yeah. But way more money than $875, I'll bet. And you can shoot them at the same time,
one in each hand, if you choose to. :)

S Mac

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
Sure, you can shoot them both at once. Nobody said you would hit the target.

Each or together? I assume "both" ss together, and man, that was either a long time ago, or

Bill,
As I initially wrote:
The 624 was purchased new-in-the-box 12-97 (Christmas present from my wife) for $299
The 24 was purchased used 5-01 for $400.
