I don’t stand mine up. Can’t say I look for imperfections. Gun goes bang, bullets go where the gun is pointed, all is well.

Oh, and I sleep just fine. Well, actually I sleep for crap but that is work related.

The ham'R has some very impressive paper numbers. Its done with tight spec chambers a d higher pressures. So in a M&R its gonna show quickly when uts too much and you will pay with short brass life.

100% the lil 300 aint no 30/30. Flat out no the 30/30 is more powerful across the board.

With the Hamr it has a strange twist 1:15 iirc. So NO HEAVIES!! Matter of fact 150 is recommended max and the Speer 130 is a better choice. (Darn good but too)

I looked at it wanting a different hunting caliber for the platform. From Bill Wilson not designed for use with/ for cast bullets.

30/30 ACCELLS with cast!

I never really understood trying to make and AR-15 into something it cannot be. I own three different AR variants besides the original and have good reason for each, but for improving on the .30-30 in an AR I simply bought up to the appropriate platforms which include the LR-308 and M1A, and of course there are others such as made by FN, Browning, Winchester, Henry Repeating, IMI, and so on.

They make the HAMR in a 1:13 twist that will shoot 150s. I’m getting the stuff together slowly and it’s going to be barreled in 300HAMR just because I want one. It was that or a 277 Wolverine. I just like 30 cal stuff for some reason. It’s not a 30-30, but capable of killing whitetail sized game to 200 yards, which I actually think 150 would be more approproate, with 130 grain projectiles. 30-30s are really underrated as a 100 yard or less cartridge, bit it will kill to 200. Problem is it’s hard to hit much at 200 at dusk with iron sights. A good scope and a rifle chambered in 30-30 would do fine to 200 yards.

This one won’t be a cast rifle at all, it will eat jacketed bullets for its life. your right CW it was designed to run at the threshold of max pressure. Supposedly it excels with CFE BLK more velocity, less pressure. I’ve got enough 223 and 300 blks time to open up the AR 15 portfolio at this domicile.

Comparing a 300BLK to a 30-30 Winchester is ludicrous. Although that big bullet in the 30-30 should make for an interesting adventure.

The 300HAMR is as close to 30-30 ballistics up to a 150gr I haven’t looked at the numbers but when you get to the 170-180 class projectile I feel the 30-30 is going to pull ahead of the HAMR. 170 is the best weight bullet for the 30-30 in IMHO. Be sure to let us know how those shoot. I’m
I put a gp100 on layaway today so I’m gonna have to look into it.
@CWLONGSHOT that gp100 is gonna be the big bro to my sp101, I love my lil snubbie but I really wanted a longer barrel target revolver so I can squeeze some accuracy out. That trigger on the sp101 is SUPER heavy too. I’m close friends with the guy Tim who owns my LGS and I had asked him to call me when a gp100 showed up so I got the call yesterday morning

@CWLONGSHOT i ordered that iron wad cutter mold from Accurate too, I really want to collect Accurate molds while Tom is still making em, their quality is just unmatched. Plenty of fantastic mold makers out there but Tom is on a different level. I figure a one time payment of $180ish for such a high quality mold is doable for me. I’ve already got everything to cast and load 357/38 so that mold and the gun itself are all I’m buying. Layaway at my local shop is the only way this is happening, Tim and I are good friends so he is patient with my broke ass haha

@CWLONGSHOT My state hates the 2A but I have a legendary gun shop less than 10 minutes from me. They always have powder and primers and a huge amount of guns, they actually just opened up a 2nd location in WVA ( literally only 15 minutes away, I can walk to the state line)

JWatts, I have never owned a GP100. I HAVE owned a few Speed & Service -six revolvers and a sp-101. SOLID guns. Id own a GP dont cant say any bad. Sans maybe cost and weight. ;)

I wanted a 10mm Wile Cap model. But flat dont "need" a 10mm revolver. When our friend Jeff Quinn passed (RIP Brother) Ruger released a commemorative 5" 44 spl. Now THATS a proper revolver caliber. But being my health condition and not working because of that. Large outright purchases are on hold. I wanted to have one in a bad bad way.

@CWLONGSHOT absolutely zero BS but that freaking bullet, out of that gun, under that 7.6 grains of Power Pistol was the most accurate combination I’ve ever seen in a pistol. I didn’t chrony it but I was perfect for pressure, just beginning to flatten

Rest In Peace Jeff , definitely an incredible pistol, trust me, I can rarely EVER swing large purchases but like I mentioned, I’ll keep an eye at the stock at my LGS, if something comes in that stands out, Tim will let me do layaway for it. $100ish down then he lets me pay it when I can
