My grandson Trevor wanted a sling ( he calls it a " strap " ) put on his 20 GA single barrel shotgun that he is getting for Christmas. Today was the day to do the work.

Nice. The bottom one will keep that slip-on pad from squirming around, too.

Ian,

Exactly.

I also put the stud on the end of the fore end , like an African rifle.
Easy on his hand during recoil.

I like it! And a 20 is plenty of gun for a whole lot of game and games.

Yes, at age 9 we have to keep things in " moderation ", he just isn't ready for a 12 GA yet.

Well, probably not an issue with a single barrel but I own several doubles and a 20 gauge on a 20 gauge frame is a lot lighter than a 12.

For the last twenty or so years of my bird hunting, I shot nothing but side by side 20g doubles. A Browning full and mod, and an Ithaca mod and Improved, with a preference for the second. Many dove, quail, and pheasant went down to those two guns, mostly with 9's for dove and 7 1/2 for
pheasant and quail. The little Ithaca is most pleasant to shoot and carry. Never saw the need for a 12 except for turkey.
