there's a rumor going around out there that Ruger has put in a bid [possibly successful] to buy Marlin from Remington under their latest bankruptcy.
has anyone else seen/heard anything?

RP ammo will be under the same roof with Speer and RCBS .
Barnes LLC is an alternate for the Barnes line .
There is also an LLC I'm not familiar with that is there and basically secured H&R , DPMS and 3-4 of the other names held and mothballed . I wonder if there's a warehouse of tooling for them or if it's only names , copyright , and a patent or 2 left .

Can you imagine a Handi or Topper retooled to be a half price Contender or Encore ?

JJEO ? Seems like Palmetto was mentioned but not named that way farther down .
I can't keep up with them unless it's a name I use . Some days I still struggle with PTG not being part of Hornady ....... Of course having all of Dad's Pacific Hornady stuff all over and having grown up early on with them just over the hill doesn't help .

What about the Remington Arms part of the company? Seems like they sold off all of their recent acquisitions but what about Remington firearms manufacturing? Is that going under or continuing on under reorganization? I know the company has fallen on hard times but I'm still a big fan of the Remington 700.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Remington took a real hit here over the past few years, and the virus (and our governor- 'nuff said!) seemed to drive the nail in the coffin. If Ruger can take the Marlin line and bring it back to what it was, that fantastic news. It won't be in NY I imagine, but it should go on living. The Remington rifles in todays style don't matter to me, but the 870 and 1100 type platforms are good stuff. If Ruger was to end the 700 it would make sense, but seeing them take that series back (forward?) into the classic 700's of a couple decades ago wouldn't hurt my feelings. I'll never buy one, but it's nice to have options.

Agree with Brad- the 1984 in 218, 25-20, 32-20 need to come back. A 336 in 219 Zipper or 25-35 might just see some of my $$$ if they made them far more slender than the pudgy RemLins are.

Oh! And the Model 39!!!!! Lord, let them bring back the 39!!!!!

Ruger buying Marlin is done deal from what I am seeing
Almost a done deal...

From a friend who is watching this closely...
" The bankruptcy court still needs to approve the successful bids"
" The hearing to approve the winning bids will take place on Tuesday, September 29"

yeah they have to approve the buy.
but much of that is so a monopoly isn't formed, and to check that some type of underhanded agreement isn't made where a factory is bought for a dollar, or schilled for the current owners to buy back.

I didn't see anything about Remington firearms.
so I'm assuming all the side assets are being sold and that part is remaining.
their ammo plant is the part I'm most concerned about [specifically their shot shell hulls]

Some interesting change to come in the future. Hopefully Ruger will take full advantage of the Marlin 1894, improve the quality and bring back some older chamberings...or maybe not. Looks like some consolidation in the ammo/bullet market. Hard to understand why AR15 businesses are suffering in the current market.

the only one that is is the one we are talking about.
they bought bushmaster,, you can't even buy a bushmaster.
they bought AAC, you can't buy an AAC.
Tapco? I can't even remember what it was they made.

I really would have liked to have seen SIG get their ammo plant though.
we will be talking about SIG ammo and gear in the next few years anyway.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
Palmetto was wise in buying those smaller brands, although I'm surprised that (Kevin) Brittenham didn't buy AAC. The rumor mill has PSA talking about producing Garands & M14s.
