Mostly what I'll be doing today is sulking. Sue and I have both come down with something. Don't know what, and I think I am already on the mend and I only first noticed symptoms Saturday late afternoon. But, Sue is pretty miserable. Raggedy ass cough, headache, and draining sinuses. I heard her moaning in her sleep last night. I woke up once and she was actually shaking like a leaf. I went and got her another blanket and she played the throw the blanket off, pull the blanket on game the rest of the night.

I'm sulking because I have to cancel the cast bullet shoot. From my point of view it will be much less work and worry, but there are some guys who are stuck living in urban areas that look forward to shooting sessions out here at Thorn Hollow for the whole year. I am so lucky that I can saunter out the back door and shoot. I have long periods, some times hours where no traffic drives by. My friends and I can take our time, shoot, BS, swap and sell, sit around a camp fire, eat awesome food, have a drink all without having to pay a fee, ask permission, worry about offending anyone, or breaking any laws.

Some of my shooters were already packing their trucks, making a list and checking twice, calling me to ask what could they bring? Good questions like, "You want another bag of cheese curds?" "Was that Bulliet Rye?" "The George Dickel, was that 12 year old and do you need some more?" I had a fish fry planned for Saturday night. I have been trimming weeds around the rails and painting targets. Sure I can take advantage of that work and shoot at my leisure, but boy howdy, I am going to miss my gaggle of good fellows. Shucks!
Sorry to read this !! Gods speed in the mend!!!

And always, always, ALWAYS carry an extra key to the Troop Car!!!!!!! Had to leave them running for the lights and radio and that means you had to lock them a lot of the time. I only locked myself out once and that was more than enough for me. I know guys that did it at least 3-4 times a year!
Never locked myself out of the unit.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. I am feeling much better, Sue is not getting worse. She kicked me out of the house this morning at told me to take the Indian for a day trip and go buy some more sale priced crank baits. Okay, that works. 343 miles and 11 discounted crank baits later, I had a good day.

I sold my truck today, got $100 more than I paid 3 years ago.
I'm thinking I'm gonna try and get by with one vehicle for a while, but the Toyota won't haul much wood, so I gotta do some more serious thinking about this.

yeah, that's one of many options that I am thinking.
My Toyota will easily pull my current wood hauling trailer for short distances (2 to 5 miles is where I get most of my wood) if I only put half as much wood as I usually do.

I've found that a 4' x 8' trailer doesn't replace a good pickup but it is still darned handy for short hauling lots of things I don't want/can't get in my minivan. Didn't know you already had a trailer.

my wood hauling trailer is a homemade one, made by my late neighbor...it has a 1966 title, so I assume that's when it was made.
It's the front axle off a truck and has HD leaf springs. the Bed is made of 3/4" plywood 39"w by 89"long and has 2 foot sides. I usually put a heaping load of hardwood (maybe a foot over the top of the sides) and the trailer squats pretty good, but the Load E tires can handle it well.
...anyway, the trailer isn't too big, and the Toyota can pull it fine at highways speeds if it is empty...but even when half full of wood, I'd be limited to maybe 25 or 30 MPH...and short distances, which is fine for 80% of my wood hauling.

Funny thing, when the buyer seen my wood stacks, he said he just cut down 3 Oak trees, and I could have all the wood, if I was interested...but it's at his Lake cabin, 50 to 60 miles away. I'd probably have to make 4 or 5 trips to haul that with the Toyota, LOL.

when I was truckless I went and bought a trailer that hauls up to 1,000 lbs. didn't think much of it at the time and added wood insides and on the floor.
it sorta quieted down the rattling and squeaking, and made it so I could haul rocks and such too.
I wasn't too optimistic about those little tires hauling that much weight, but it's held and hauled 15 sacks of cement 100 miles no problem.
which is more than the 1/2 ton truck can do... LOL
the Jeep we had at the time hauled it fine, the Tahoe handles it like a champ too but it is a bit draggy behind you.

my Little brothers Girl come up tonight so we went over and made a small dinner mostly from stuff out of the garden.
I was out there looking at the lettuce and seen all but one plant had been chewed off around the bottom and immediately started looking for Vole holes.
I couldn't see anything anywhere and was getting some nervous about what was going on.
[especially since the Pea's are growing right behind that box]
I asked the wife, since she was right there and she knew nothing about it.
I had her pull one of the plants out so I could look closer and then have her cut the upper stuff off.
she was walking to the house when the oldest girl walked out the back door and asked what she was gonna do with another pound of lettuce since she had picked a bunch yesterday.
I was like jezuz Christ Jackie you gotta say something.

anyway I made a couple of loaves of bread and added in some minced Garlic from the green house before doing the final proofing and cooking.
then had the G-boy paint the top of the bread from the oven with some melted garlic butter, before putting them back in to crust off a touch better.
I think I might just only want Garlic bread this way from now on.
it wasn't a gooey mess, it wasn't overly Garlicy, the crust was good too.
it had a nice hint of garlic and tasted like bread.

Got a little done today. Got a start on cleaning out the detached garage. Had to move about 1,000 lbs of: china cabinet & hutch, 4 truck wheels w/tires and a Wells Fargo chest safe. Lucky I had a set of mice and a Johnson bar or the chest safe was going nowhere.
My truck is now parked in the garage.
One of the reasons the garage cleaning became a higher priority is, this morning I fired up the truck to move it and hit the passenger side window down button and subsequently heard a CLUNK. Fricken window hardware went down, glass got stuck, then fell. Dodges are notorious for this.
I hate pulling door panels.

Had tacos for dinner. YUM!

My hauling needs rarely exceed 1500 lbs so I use an SUV and heavy, homebuilt 5x10 trailer. The trailer is much easier to load/unload than a pickup, can be left loaded and tarped, and I don't give a speckled damn if it gets scratched, dinged, or something spills in it. I like my vehicle space enclosed, and a Tahoe or Sequoia is a much more practical daily driver than a pickup with an 8' bed, not to mention stops and goes better in bad weather. A 4-door truck with full bed is a real pain to park, turn, or fit places, and pickup with a 6.5' bed is about as useless as teats on a boar.

My father never owned a pickup until a few years before he died. Everything was done with the family station wagon and a ho'made trailer. That was the norm in the day. Pickups were owned by loggers, contractors and businesses. Almost no one we knew owned a car AND a truck. That was just how it was. I still recall the first brand new car I got to sit in! Used was the rule among the residents of our town. Times have sure changed.

Tried to do waaaaay too much at once yesterday. Ended up screwing up my day. Hope today goes better.

Spent the first half of my life on the farm, wouldn't know how to act without a pickup. Been retired 4 years and still run a truck, though it's getting pretty long in the tooth. 175k miles, '06 Silverado, it still gets me to town and back fine. Got a 5x8 utility trailer I use occasionally, but I added sides to it years ago and my 60" zero turn won't fit in. Lacks about 2", may end up popping a few welds and making the sides removable.

Huh. So SWMBO got her 2nd shot, don't know which brand. Sick as a dog! Everything aches she says. Then she says she was also sick for days after the first shot, but didn't want me doing the "I told you so!" thing, so she kept mum about it.

I've had all sorts of shots, never been sick from one. Doesn't seem right to me.
