Wife and I went to local museum for opening of a 9/11 memorial sculpture put up by one of my oldest friends and now a part-time employee. It will be on display for two weeks.

We plan to go over to new property later today and walk around a little bit. Wife got me a pair of aluminum 3-piece hiking sticks, hope they work well enough for me to walk on rough ground w/o faling on my keister.

Started setting up another Raspberry Pi computer, going to put it on my roll around tool box so it will be acessible wherever I'm working in the shop. Going to try to use a cordless mouse and keyboard, I can keep those in a drawer and cut down the cable clutter. Wifi coverage everywhere in the shop, can access the net and a wireless printer. Ought to be handy.

I was enroute to NYC by now, standing in front of the Bull on Wall St, knee deep in dust, debris and human remains by 11AM the next day. I can still taste the dust and smell the bodies cooking and then decomposing. I'd say more but we're not supposed to be judgemental and overtly nationalistic anymore...or so I'm told.
Bret, God bless you for everything you did for the victims and their loved ones.

Wow, those hiking sticks are GREAT! Was able to walk very easily on rough and sloping ground. It's not a matter of strength, it's a matter of balance. With the hydraulic ankle on my prosthetic enabling me to keep my foot flat on the ground - no toe standing like my first couple of prosthetics with a rigid ankles - and a pair of poles to keep myself steady, I feel like I could get around almost anywhere now. A real confidence builder!

Had to download the operating system for my Raspberry Pi onto a microSD card. Went to the official RPi site to do this. In the process I saw that they had a new product, a computer kit. You get the computer board, a mouse, a keyboard that is also the case for the computer board, a power supply, and the microSD card with the operating system and all the other software. I bought one from PiShop for $100 + $17 shipping. All you need to add is a monitor, and I have several of those sitting around. Even if you have to pay $25 for a used monitor what other computer can you get for less than $150?

Been interested in working with webcams for external security and livestreaming machine processes and this is a good platform for experimenters.

I'm typing this in using my new Raspberry Pi on my roll around toolbox. Haven't been able to set up cordless mouse and keyboard yet but I found a couple boxes that had a corded mouse and mini-keyboard in each. Wife gave them to me a while back, they're brand new so I'm going to use them instead. Now to go to all the sites I frequent and enter passwords. Downloaded and updated LibreOffice, its a free full featured MS Office clone.

I was surprised to see it but a program called Mathematica is also available for free for the Pi. I can remember when I was still perfessoring how hard my colleagues in the math department fought to get the money to buy this program - and it wasn't cheap. And now you can get it for free for a $100 computer. Times sure change!

I don't know. Current package is V12.0 for Raspberry Pi, it is on a list of recommended downloadable software along with LibreOffice and many other programs. It doesn't automatically get installed when you image the OS to the microSD card, I guess because of possible space issues. (A Google web browser called Chromium does get auto installed so you have internet access right away.) My microSD cards are 64Gb, plenty of room for a couple big programs. You can install it through the command line terminal program or with a couple mouse clicks by making menu picks. Real easy install that way.

I know there are probably folks here wondering why the hell are we talking about computers on a cast bullet site. Over the years I've read posts from folks wanting to catalog their molds, guns and accessories, or look up load data from a manufacturers website, or perform other similar tasks suited to a computer. In a lot of cases the problem is mostly cost, if you had $600 to spend would you buy a computer or a gun? Ok, now if you had $125 to spend would you buy a full featured computer or a $125 gun? (I've seen $125 guns, no thanks...) By the way, you can set the Pi up with video game emulation software so the grandkids will have something to play with and you don't have to worry about them trashing your main PC.

When we move my hobby/reloading room will have space for a computer designed in.

Well got out of the bedroom at least. Guess I will be catching up on CW'S videos and what Derric is doing on Vice Grip Garage. No much else I can do.

CW,
I do love the way those penta points look!
I've never tested them in media for expansion, but they sure look like they should work.
What caliber and weight are those?

I can't count the number of $29 Turk Mausers I ordered from Century.
I wish I still had some of them.

Keith, be careful using Google Chrome. It is one of the most popular (if not THE most popular) targets of hackers spreading malware, worms, trojans, etc. Firefox is a slightly less popular target, but is about as fast and compatible as Chrome.

CW, some real purty bullets. What caliber?

Those are from a MP 454-297 HP mold. Its the "Ruger only" bullet. Because of OAL its designed for. 1.700. (Ruger Blk Hawk length)

Thank you!
