We made the last trip to my Wifes cardiologist yesterday.
He says no need to come back as the only treatment for her heart issues are too invasive for her.
He told her to take nitro if she gets chest pain.
She has decided to forgo any more treatment for her incurable tumor as the side effects would do more harm than good.
We will keep her happy as we can and pain free.
I asked the Dr when hospice would be appropriate.
He says when she can no longer leave home and do the things she enjoys.
I will see that she never goes to a rest home.
We have already had one bad experience with one.
We have had 60 good years together.
Dale,
sorry to hear this. I pray the rest of her journey is pleasant.

55ºF. I think I'll go out to the sportsman club again this morning, and cut another tree. There is about 5 downed by storms, that someone needs to cut up. I hauled a lot of brush yesterday and my shoulder is feeling that...I shouldn't need to do any of that today, I hope.
Well, I didn't even take the chainsaw our of the case.
I got a closer look at the specific tree I was eyeing yesterday...it was punky and a bit larger trunk than I prefer to load and unload and stack and lift onto the wood splitter. I'll leave it for someone else. I wasn't really feeling the joy for running a saw anyway.
>>> Luckily I did remember to bring my Henry 41 mag.
I have some WC ammo I loaded about 8 years ago with Red Dot.
Lubed with my first attempt at SL68 (without beeswax)
Boy oh boy, those loads really stunk up the place.
and the stench had a similar odor to some old foreign Mil Surp ammo I've shot.
I only got 6 boxes of that left to blast away...and they won't fully chamber in any of my revolvers...I think the bullets grew? So I'm stuck with running them through the rifle. Oh yeah, the accuracy was crap too.

Sorry to hear of your problems , Dale hope it all works out.

I have been sort of lost recently.....not much happening with me .....Our heat and humidity have been oppressive for the past 6 days ....Temps in the 90's and not much rain.... gardens are a loss!
I spend my time in my basement....Somewhat cool and dry down there ( but it is catching up fast to the outside!)
Decided to clean out the basement from all of the pre 2000"s stored stuff! I found out it is a long road with memories!
Just got to stop being sentimental! Junk has to go!

Prayers for you and yours. Live life as best you can. Bro's wife had a terminal disease and he got no prognosis of it. Wasted time they could have enjoyed together.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Soggy here today, spent most of the day playing catch up on paperwork and banking. Also researched the work I need to do on her Wrangler. That brought me to HOW I am going to accomplish the work, which led to visions of lying on my back under the Jeep while hot welding slag dripped onto my old body. Got thinking about options, like scissors lifts. Well, truth is I have no good area to use any kind of lift really. Then I got thinking about ramps. Looked around a little and found a set for sale nearby that looked like they'd allow me to kneel while welding. Looks like it might have been an alignment rack at one time. 17 feet of I beams and they're adjustable. $100.00! SOLD!!!!!! Worth more than that in scrap. I can site them in front of the "work" side of my garage, probably pour footers for the 4 "feet" it sits on and bolt it all down. It sits about 2 feet high alone, I figure I should be able to add some height to the end closest to the garage as there is a downward slope in that direction anyway and get another foot. Considering everything here has at least another foot of ground clearance, I may even be able to use a small stool under it! Gotta admit, sounds like oil changes and exhaust work is going to get a lot easier. Of course it's still outside, uncovered, but I can't have everything! Wish me luck on this one guys!

We had been seeing this big pile of lath thrown on top of a pile of stumps and other trash wood. They looked really clean from the road. We finally saw the owners on the property. They are remodeling a great grand father's farm house and it is quite old. The couple doing the work said we would be welcome to all of the scrap we wanted and would appreciate a couple of quarts of syrup in return.

Today while Sue was working the polls for our primary I hooked up the trailer and grabbed a couple of quarts of syrup and headed over there. The owners weren't there when I pulled in but I dropped the syrup off in the garage they are adding to the old farm house and spent two hours loading lath into my trailer. When I was done the owners were back working on the house. What a pleasant couple of folks. The husband is a retiring contractor and he and his wife are doing much of the work themselves. His wife actually pulled most of the lath down and apologized for not pulling the nails! They told me that someone else stopped and asked to buy some but they told the prospective buyer the lath were all spoken for. There are thousands of lineal feet of clean, dry lath, perfect for kindling. I can see already there are probably three trailer loads that I can probably pretty easily gather.

Hauled one load home and pulled nails for two hours and barely made a dent in the trailer load.

stupid Lab is coming into heat.
this means the other two ain't far behind.
they ain't a problem except for the whining to go out every 2 minutes.
the Idiot Lab thinks she needs to build herself a Den somewhere, yesterday it was under the Canoe, today it was digging the mulch out from under the crab apple tree.
i don't even know how she gets her fat ass into that tree it has a 2x4 railing around the top and 2x2 runners down the sides.
the chihuahua thought it was a dog fort when i first built it, but she got broke of that pretty quick.

spent most of my day picking and poking at weeds out back, then i threw a few garlic bulbs in the dirt.
i'll plant some of the others next month, and then do a third set in October, and compare how things go next spring.

Kindling to make more syrup. It goes round and round.

This morning, my wife tells me we need another half wine barrel and a dwarf lemon tree. The last time we did that trick, the tree produced nice smelling blossoms, but few lemons. Eventually, we decided it was too dwarfish, not fruitish and a wastage water and uprooted it. Don't believe anyone who says oak wine barrels don't rot. To make use of the 106 leftover pavers -- that seemingly no forum member wants -- she said I could level a spot in Duke's dirt yard, and set some down as a base for the barrel and tree. Tomorrow we'll be visiting a family-owned garden center and Home Depot.

Oh, I want to lay down so weed block cloth and cover it with some kind of ground cover. Probably wood chips. The area is a 27" X 32' strip along a section of the back of the house and 24" X 12' along the side of the shed. Nothing grows in the poorly nutritious former sea sed, and the few plants we've tried soon became gopher food. I only have to move three large pots of cymbidium orchids and another of sort sort of purple flowering succulent, the soon(?)-to-be-painted potting, and a concrete container of fuchsias.

Dale, you have true grace.

Jon, pull one of those old cartridges down and let's have a look at the lube. Maybe it corroded the brass? Bullets do grow sometimes, maybe the rifle doesn't like the extra girth? I haven't had any corrosion problems except for some darkening around the gas checks.

I'll have to do that later today and post some photos.

I skinned my shin yesterday ...Dang diabetic legs
So I'm wrapped, and will probably have to do so for a couple weeks or more.
I've been able to avoid opening that wound area for over a year....Dang sportsman club woods

My old boot's are a bit 'too' worn, so I will break-in a new pair today.
With the recent rains, I need to mow, so that'll be the start of the boot break-in.
Also, some other gardening to tend to, cutting out old raspberry canes...that's always fun.

Speaking of health issues, my wife and I returned from a Danube River cruise late last Saturday with "colds." Testing Sunday AM showed we both have Covid (still do) and are quarantining. My symptoms were worse than hers, but they've now mostly abated. Nonetheless, it would be nice to be out and about again.

Btw, the cruise was fine; saw interesting sights; met many nice people; but we didn't sign up for Covid.

Well, she really enjoyed her Salmon dinner last nite. If in Dallas and want a good meal, Kenny's wood fired grill. Better than Ruth's or most places. Small with sports bar and dinning section. Not cheap (120$ for 2 and one glass of wine) but good service.

Pulling nails with my honey, she's good at it too. Guess we'd best mow this afternoon and we have plans for tomorrow and Friday. Shoot, we're outa gas for the mowers too.

Just now finished mowing, would have finished yesterday but a pesky flat tire ruined the day. As dry as it's been here it's amazing how little gas I've burned up in the mower and outdoor equipment all of this year.

Just back from the local garden center and Home Depot. Bought some plants for three fence post hanging baskets and a large patio pot, two large patio pots, a 3' x 100' plastic bag of weed block cloth, and three bags of dirt. Later today, or tomorrow, I'll be back at the garden center for a truck-load of wood chips.

Disappointed with Home Depot, though. As of two days ago, the veteran discount is only available by using a phone application -- showing my V. A. card is no longer valid. I don't do phone apps. Have to assess whether I want to jump through the hoops and install one, or continue to shop Home Depot. However, there are times the 10% discount adds up to real money.

This is not the first time my principles have made my life difficult. But, I refuse to live it governed by applications installed on a smart-phone, so it'll likely not be the last.
