Prayers and thoughts for the wife Waco. Took the wife for colon scope this morning. Doc said she is boringly healthy. Her sis just started rectal cancer treatements, so she has been nutty last month. Cut a 15' limb off the crazy live oak with pole saw, tried to capture a ladies dog that was loose. Got to finish cutting the limb tomorrow & spray for weeds before it rains tomorrow.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
Waco,
Prayers and well wishes for your wife.

A friend had open heart surgery about four months ago. No previous indications or warnings till he had a mild heart attack. The heart can be a sneaky organ.

I will keep you/her in my thoughts Walter.

I got the little giant knock off by airc Williams at the Lowe's.
it's aluminum, But still some heavy when you move the whole thing by yourself, and I have to tip it over to me to hit the button to unlock the top.
it flairs out at the bottom so it's steady when it's up.

O no, I'm so sorry that happened Waco. That is seemingly young for those issues. Absolute best wishes for her! Thoughts & prayers sent for her rapid diagnosis, fix, & recovery.
What a scary nightmare. We don't realize how much we rely on our ladies until they can't be with us.

It's official, doc confirmed, we are pregnant. I've never been so happy & scared at the same time. Thank you all for the advise & well wishes.

We? WE? No, she is pregnant.
Soon you will go from being the most important person in her life to number 23.

Follow your head and your heart when raising kids. Most of us managed and trust me, none of us were ready for it either. Damned babies just don’t come with instructions.

Probably the best advice ever. You'll be surprised at the instincts that kick in when the time comes. You get to get over any selfish tendencies real quick, which is a fine trait to master. First baby I ever even held at 42 was my own, if I can do it anyone can.

Waco we sincerely hope your Mrs. has the most simple and treatable problem.
Mrs. smokeywolf is also in her mid 40s and had a heart related issue nearly 10 years ago requiring her to wear a monitor for period of time. I know how scary this can be.

freebullet, congrats. There is no job more serious, more fun, more difficult or more rewarding.

Waco, here's hoping your wife sails past this bump in the rd. I had a "widowmaker" last June and Drs said...... "bye".

Diet changed EVERYTHING for me. Lose the salt completely. Which ain't an easy thing to do,because it's in everything. Once you get to zero.... then, and only then do you get to ad a very small amt back in. Even a raw egg has salt in it. Also cut saturated fats out to as close to zero as possible.

Then,go buy some really nice walking shoes..... walk every day. Insurance covered me for cardiac rehab. Which I would definitely do again. Didn't "learn" anything, heck they didn't know diddly on dietary. But lit a fire under me for getting on a routine for my walking.

Get a blood pressure machine. We spent about 100$ at CVS,it's pretty durn accurate from comparison to the nice version at rehab. I take it in the morning and evening, almost every day. My BP wasn't that bad before the event. Never did have to go on meds for it..... it's a sneaky kind of thing though.Even now on a few meds,BP hasn't changed that much, but you get in the habit of checking.

Freebullet, wifey is a,pretty far up the ladder, child development "guru" for the state.

Patience...... is what,if I had to pick the single most important "thing" that she excels with. I'm an idiot with kids, sorta throw the dice and if that doesn't work, yell at them. She,is waaaaay past getting bent,or otherwise coming off her "game plan". She is very spiritual and is the most soft spoken, soft hearted individual.... but the wheels never stop turning for her when it comes to children. "Absolute",dogged determination to raise and help folks define child development issues. Do not take this as an endorsement for the system as a whole. Work on patience..... and remember this about the time the little crumb snatcher does something like a..... child.

All our boys have become wonderful parents, and am sure you and your wife are going to have SO much fun raising young'ins... cheers.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Waco, thoughts and prayers on the way. The one good thing about it is that you live in an age where what would have killed or crippled someone 40 years ago is often a big box of nothing these days. Have faith and allow yourself some rest too! If you can't function it'll stress her out!

On the BP machine, a good tool but don't do it like my MIL did. She'd take her BP at odd hours and if it was a couple points higher than she thought it should be she'd start taking it every 10 minutes and then 5 minutes and every other minute, getting all wound up. We spent several nights (it was always at 2AM) in the ER with her waiting for her to calm down. Use it wisely.

Bret, I'm living amongst them. I feel your pain. One difference seen fairly often here. When you get around horse people the common sense factor usually goes way up.

There's the problem. These aren't horse people. These aren't even cat people. These are people who use the internet for all their information and decide they have experience because they read about something.

Freebullet,
Your in for the time of your life!
There is no joy like having fun with your kids. A happy family laughs a lot.
Our secret was too keep ours too busy with activities for her to get in trouble. She's forty now and I couldn't be more proud of her.
