Popper,
Thanks for the Academy suggestion. I'll look at King Size and Duluth, too.
I'm 6' even and normally wear a large-tall shirt, but may have to go to X-large-tall, to gain some extra width.

Reading some history mainly. Story of a gal that wanted to get off the train in Kidder but it didn't stop there until a fellow talked to the conductor and it did stop. Guy's name was Frank James. Another incident of a Gallatin bank robbery/murder. Banker was killed, one robber couldn't get his foot in the stirrup, rode off with the other bad guy. Turned out the horse belonged to James bros but they said they sold it. Yea, right!
Some Tx history, guy was killed by indians, friend found (got the indian drunk), scalped and killed him. Got tried but not convicted. Talked to Judge later, 'yea I did it but YOU couldn't prove it'.
Can't make this stuff up.

Cleaned up the gardens from the spent Tomatoes plants...Picked green beans and harvested more chillies. Put compost & Worm castings on the used beds! (Got tons of worm castings this year near the compost piles and around the woods!)

Smoked roasted more peppers and pealed and froze ! Chopped green peppers for freezing!

Trying to turn the gardens around for The Fall season if it is nice . Got Lettuce , Spinach and Broccoli going strong along with some August planted red beets! Since we finally had a good summer again ...just trying for a mild Fall! Some years when I'm lucky I have harvested crops into November! Turnips would have done great but I ran out of seed this year!

I love a year when the gardens pay off! This year I have put up plenty so far! Just seeing how long I can milk it!
Makes up for last years disaster on non stop rains and clouds!

yeah the spinach is still trying to come, I pushed the ones I let go to seed over, and bout half of them greened up and started putting out leaves again.
I just peeled the seeds off the browned out ones and spread them around half the box to see what happens.

The weather sure has a way of making a liar out of an honest man. Two days ago I mentioned how the approaching end of Summer means our (local) weather will be improving. This morning's low, misty overcast is a return of the June Gloom.

Oh, well, at least we aren't subjected to hurricanes, tornadoes, snow, sand storms, etc.

I was at Littlegirls place last night for lets see what we can make from all this stuff from dad's garden.
I guess cabbage rolls was the consensus, I tried sneaking a couple of the little crooked green peppers in the mix but got told to go outside and stop helping.

anyway while I was out there I was watching the G-boy and Jax play.
Jax doesn't get along with anyone and has always shied away from the Baby when he come anywhere near her.
but they invented a game that the two of them play all the time and none of the other dogs get involved too often.
it's kind of like tag or keep away and Jax is usually a jerk when it comes to stuff like that but she plays fair and doesn't nip his fingers or just knock him down when getting the ball away from him.
he doesn't boob about it if he does get knocked down in the process, which happened pretty much every time when they first started playing the game until she learned his balance points.

so yesterday they get to playing and I decide to play a trick on Jax.
Barrett has a little drink bottle that's round and orange like the ball they play with.
I gave him that and stuck the ball under his shirt and he took off running, Jax seen him carrying his drink thing and thought it was the ball.
after about 2 seconds of looking at it she figured out it wasn't the ball but she knew he had the ball and started checking him out.
after about 10 seconds she discovers the ball under his shirt and starts working her nose up under it getting after the ball while he is running and trying to dodge away from her cold nose tickling him.
it took her a good 5 minutes to get it out but she played fair the whole time and I got a good laugh out of the whole thing.
poor kid was wore out afterwards though.

Yes weather is a weird thing! Today it got hot and humid again and they say it will stay that way for a good spell!
Good for the chillies bad for the spinach! But it is always worth taking a fall garden chance!
The past few years the Fall into winter weather season sucked so I didn't plant anything! This year I got caught off guard with good looking weather forecasts! Didn't order enough seed for fall plantings! ( got to get seed on line because as soon as the summer solstice is reached in June around here, you can find a pack of vegetable seeds to save your life!) I do save some seed from year to year but when they start getting corrupted because of cross breeding I trash them ( unless something exciting happens)
Like this year I grew Aleppo Chillies from 4th year seed....Plants were strange & the peppers got huge! 10 x the size they should be! Still tasted good but much hotter then normal! So They really aren't Aleppo's anymore!

Freudian slip?..... could be but, more likely just a case of being in the wrong neighborhood.

Reading about external ballistics, and Siacci "flat fire" approximates..... I swear,it was "flat tire" when skimming through it. And was thinking,"heck yeah, flat spotted tyres suck".

Hopefully get some "flat fire" CB's sent downrange today....doh.

Went to an auction Sat, got a couple little things including a stiff shank garden/crop cultivator. I hope to use to smooth out wheel ruts in combo with a disc harrow. Might work for finding a set of tractor tire chains that got lost off the tractor last winter too! Spent yesterday haying. Supposed to have good weather this week. We could use a break in the bad luck.

Watched episode 1 of Ken Burns "Country Music" last night. Good stuff! A lot of history I was unaware of.

I've watched several Burns documentaries and particularly enjoyed"The West". Was initially reluctant to watch "Viet Nam", but am glad I ultimately did. I was in-country June '68 to June '69 and was unaware of the civil unrest that was happening back in the States. Read about it in later years, of course, however what seemed to be newly released video was educational.

I don't do television, but if Country Music jumps to Amazon Prime Video or Netflix I'll probably watch it.

I watched that part one last night also.
it featured a number of songs that was played in that movie, 'o brother where art thou.
it gave me a better appreciation for whomever done the sound track of that movie, and the overall feeling of the time it portrayed.

guess I'm getting roped into going down to Pokey today.
it looks like we got some rain coming too.
I didn't consult the weather channel or nuthin, but the wind direction and the clouds that have been filtering past are pointing right at it coming.

I absolutely love the first few minutes of "O Brother". Watching Clooney fall on his face makes me laugh every time! Great movie.

It must be Halloween week, because this morning we got our first rain. Weird stuff happening.

When I lived in cal. The first rain would activate the queen ants to swarm by the gazillions. Everything would be covered with there tiny wings as they dropped them.
