Mitty,
We got through the storm rather well in NEPA.... We only had 3 inches of rain but some folks to the east of our parts got 7+ inches!
Wind damge was the thing ...I lost 3 of my Grenada Chille pepper plants! The were 4 ft high and 3 foot across! Snapped like matchsticks
I planned on casting all day but could not open the basement door for ventilation because the wind and the rain were way worse then I thought
JW good to hear you were not effected too bad. We are way inland here in OHIO, so just enough rain to keep from getting things done. Of course both of us may end up getting some of them lake effect thunderstorms in a few days. Good old Lake Erie loves to throw those curve balls at us every once and a while.

I had to go to town for a dentist apt. today. So naturally i went to the local Sporting good store, to see what Bow excesories they had. On the way out i noticed they had a very small loading section. I almost fell over when i say they had a 60$ SIXTY price sticker on a 1 lb container of Red Dot powder.
That is just nuts! A couple months ago you could have got 4 lb for a few dollars more then that.

I would have asked to speak to management then just pointed to the sticker and laughed as I walked to the door empty handed.

Stopped by a pawn shop in Bonham yesterday, had 1 1# of red dot and 1 100count shotgun primers. Got no use for RD. No I didn't ask price!

Took the girls out on the lake, this AM. Boated six Stripers and two Largemouths. Kept these four.

Twenty five inch Hybrid in the foreground. Fifteen and a half in Largemouth in the background. Minimum size for LM is 15" and 20" for Striper. Hybrids can be any size. Hybrid hit on an umbrella rig with five 4.5", along with a keeper Striper. First double for me. What fun getting both fish in the same net.

Winelover what weight are those stripers? Trying to relate them to northerns/walleyes
Don't know emoji.png Never actually weighed one of the table fare size. The twenty inchers will yield two meals (@ a lb each) for me and the wife. One meal with thin filets and one with the thick (upper slabs). That is the way we freeze them thick and thin. Cindy determines what she uses depending on the recipe she decides to make.

Northern's I don't mess with...................hate dealing with the Y bones. Back in Michigan. I would give them away or release them. Walleye are an entirely different story.................definitely fine table fare. Walleye we catch, on occasion, trolling for Stripers. Size limit is 18 inches, here. Unlike 13 inches in some Michigan waters or 15 inches in others. A twenty inch walleye is only going to yield one meal. So I'm going to say a twenty inch Striper will yield twice as much.

CW,
You look a bit like "Aaron" from "Ghost Adventures" in that photo! ;)
Anybody else mention the resemblance ?

Northerns, slime, and Y-bones. Only they are so darned good that they are worth the extra trouble. One of the best tasting fresh water fish that exists! Way better than walleye.

Well, regulator on propane grill is leaking. Good grill ~ 20 yrs old, no replacement parts but everything else on it is good. I can get a new regulator & hose but this one has crimped hose. Can I cut the new hose and just use a heater hose clamp to fasten it? Have to assume new hose is same dia as old one.

Probably could, pressure in a propane line is fairly low however, if it were me I would assume also that the hose is old & dried out, possibly cracking and wouldn't do it. A new hose isn't very expensive and along with the new regulator will help popper sleep better at night.

All the propane regulators, I've run across have hose that has treads on both ends. Usually a male and a female. Shouldn't be difficult to find a replacement. Most propane dealers should have them in stock. Even here in Mountain Home.

Nope our boat. We been fishing here our whole Lives. These where mostly from 2006-2008. We dont keep ANY COWS anymore. But we still catch them!! ;) now as a rule we keep one fish just over min (or smallest we catch) that night.

In 2007 and 2008 SMALLEST fish we cought was 38". Largest just over 60". My biggest was 49" My buddy has a nack and seems to get the biggest. That bottom
Pic is him and that was a 56" IIRC.
BULL Sharks play havoc some mights. We like big eels... So do the Cows and the Bulls... My pop caught the last one we got to the boat. Mostly they break us off.... 80# braid. SNAP! I think they drag it on there sandpaper skin too much.

I just noticed Silver prices are way up...while there was some climbing since Covid, it has had a big jump during the last 4 weeks. I've been too busy rehabing my knee to have cared about it. Checking Ebay, prices of Walker Half dollar culls (my prefered coin) are about double what I paid in 2016, when I bought a bunch.

Gold topped two grand recently, a new record. Unfortunately, I chose to invest in lead, brass, tin, antimony, and copper instead.
