I sat and watched an entire old school style knee replacement years back.
I could suddenly walk much better and the pain mostly went away about 30 minutes in.... somewhere about the time they took the big hammer out and started pounding the spike in place in the lower leg and the guy missed the end smashing just above the poor guy's knee [and his own thumb partially]
I wanted to laugh,,, but man that meaty smack sound put that thought away right quick.

Several years back I watched a shoulder replacement surgery video. Haven't had even a twinge in either shoulder since. Well not anything I would ever admit to anyway.

Prior to her surgery, my wife watched a bunch of knee replacement videos, so she really knew what was going to happen. Afterward, she showed me one in which the doc was viciously swinging a sledge hammer. The poor patient's lower leg was taking a literal beating, and the doc was dripping sweat.
I have seen those videos. Also older method where the "banana" shaped Portion was fit into the Femur. OMG it was a wood wrasp!!!! Then inserted and BEAT IN!! OMG...

I was badly brused just above my ankle. I asked the doc a month after. He chuckled. Said the machine is like a mid evil rack. It pulls to separate the knee joint!!! My MCL was a fiddle string!!     :mad:

So that's why I was bruised up above my ankle...I never asked. I'm at about 6 months, still some bruising visible.

on today's list of thangs to do.

I received a order of used 38 super +p brass...I need to count and inspect, so I can contact the seller and give feedback...$50 for 400, all Starline HS, was a pretty good deal in today's market.
I also received the reflex sight (for AR) ...I should open it up and check that out too.

I'm sure glad I was able to avoid the talk about yesterday's activities ;)

Today will be "Fix Marie's Jeep" Day, not much to it though--get a tire repaired or replaced, and get new wiper blades for it. Wiper blades don't last in the desert if the vehicle is parked outside, six months is about their service life. Sunlight destroys them.

Back from our bi-monthly Costco run. Picked up some fresh wild Sockeye salmon, for tomorrow's dinner. Though probably just as healthy, the anemic looking farm raised stuff remains unappealing.

Don't understand why anyone would watch a video of some procedure that is going to be done on them. Heart doc wants the 6 mo visit, hosp. threatening about a check that is in the mail - they finally got the billing straight, another one that overcharged and won't give the 71$ back. Seems like all friends think they have covid. Getting ready for another week of 40F 1 1/2 hr soccer games. Varsity GK keeps scoring right away so they put 3 guys on him. Might take a sleeping bag this time. Cold is hard on my bones.
Went to the store for oil filter for her car, put on grubbys in the morning and change it. Figured the weight diff. between 4 cyl tubo and Bolt elec. Not much. And if the computer or motor cooling go out, ~ 10K$. Plus the extra cost of elec. heater and A/C Heard today Polaris is getting into Elec. ATV/snowmobiles. Hmm. Noticed 2 elec. scooters in the trash across the street this morning. Cool and rainy so guitar playing on the schedule.

This week got all messed up with doctoring Monday and Tuesday, so my old partners got together for breakfast yesterday instead of Tuesday. It was a day of Taking One For The Team, as it turned out. The place we go in Highland has GREAT breakfasts, and has for many years. For the past few weeks, they have have run a "Special" on a chile relleno plate, and since I am fond of a that dish I elected to give theirs a try.

MISTAKE. Ungodly-awful. I don't often send things back, but yesterday's relleno made the grade for NEVER AGAIN. Management offered a couple eggs and bacon in return, which I have history with and agreed to. Much mo' bettah. Should have known--an item that stays on the "Specials" board for weeks has good reasons for being pushed.

That is exactly how the Nugget in Sparks lost me . Of course I'd been on a run with cooks that forgot how to get an egg over medium . Im not one to send stuff back , I mean cooks are people too . I can eat a little over over easy stirred into the hash browns . That last morning the first set of eggs were barely over sunny side with runny whites , not jelly whites still oozy ...... The second set looked the same , but the whites were cold ...... I don't remember the exact exchange but something like "Mam' let's try scrambled , over medium , hard whites , runny yolks , seems to be out of reach . Maybe you could get your manager too ."
When she arrived she recognized us as regular guests , not high rollers or anything but good tippers , gracious guests and liked by the staff that "knew" us . After the manager decided we weren't just mooching a meal she made right but in the end it was kind of a spoiler for more years of gold standard than I care to admit . Time marches on and everything changes . I don't think I've ordered other than scrambled eggs since .......

Yesterday's gravely-disabled chile relleno called for a respite today. In the midst of the tire management effort, we stopped by one of our regular relleno spots, and "El Burrito" in Redlands came through with flying colors--as usual. My soul is at peace now. I didn't mean to imply that yesterday's restaurant DIDN'T make it right--they certainly did. I was just surprised to get anything but a GREAT meal at that location. I have been going there for close to 20 years. I suppose one ICK in 20 years isn't a bad record.

These OEM tires GOTS TO GO. Another sidewall leak! 5 new tires tomorrow, $716 out-the-door with free rotation and flat repairs. I can't have Mama Bear rolling around on sketchy tires. The new ones are a size larger and M&S-rated so the Tire Chain Fascists of Cal-Trans won't give us grief at chain control checkpoints.

winters ain't so easy on wiper blades either.
I keep at least a spare drivers side blade under the seat for all of them, it isn't uncommon for the blades wiping edge to work fine then be stuck to the window 5 minutes after you park, or the next morning, and no amount of gentle persuasion or window heat is gonna free it in one piece.

spent the last 2 days shopping down in Pokie.
yesterday we perused the discount places and got a few samples of this and that, then after giving them a good inspection and a try last night we went back and loaded up a couple of shopping carts on the approved products.

for example.
they had some bottles of flavored coconut water I wasn't too sure about, but at 4 for a quarter and them not having an expiration date until October I gave them a try.
everyone liked 2 of the flavors so I dropped the G-boy in the big wooden sided pallet today and had him hand out all the purple and orange striped ones.
I got half the pallet for just over 10 bucks since the owner kinda knows who we are and made me a deal.
[the G-boy got a packet of animal crackers for his trouble, and was super overjoyed at the system]

We need a Costco around.:sigh:

Well on the brighter side of things. Arsenal just informed, my mould was finished and has been shipped!!!!

Sorry to read this. Im no longer bruised, but still struggling with its effects myself. Nerves ligaments and tendons heal slow. Seems slower as we age.
My hunting buddys youngest boy had Miniscus surgery from a High School injury of coarse a 16yr old is light Years "better then a near 60 yr old. But he was playing Lacross again inside a month!! Ahh youth... I remember it kinda :p
Occasionally, in the past, I would "think" Im 17 again. But the body (and my wife) quickly reminds other wise. :headbang: ;):sigh:

Hope ya feel better quickly!!

God Bless,
CW

For sure Steelhead beats Sockeye, but there wasn't a choice this time. The other wild fish were Rock and Ling Cod, but the local fishmonger sells both species locally-caught and we can buy two fillets instead of Costco's eight or ten per package.

Lubed some 266469s and 312-185s, last night, and really need to order some BAC or 2500. I've put off buying for the last year, but the 4500's reservoir is almost empty and there's not any of my mixture of Jake's left to melt and fill it.
Jake's seems to have disappeared.
