Smoky,
My wife is Japanese as well.
At 92 has had Dementia for 4 years now.
Am her sole caretaker and it gets to be pretty bad for me at times.
63 years we have been married (25 of it in the military) so I don't think
about it as a chore but giving back for all the times I left her alone
with 2 kids while I went and played sailor.

It doesn't get any easier but after a while you just close your
eyes and mind and carry on.

There's the weight killer . Living in a region dominated by fried gravy cuisine . Ms cooks filling satisfying meals ........yeah not a really great thing .
Red meat isn't going anywhere , I crave it , my salt shaker control keeps just out of the drool in the shell fish sections of the store .

During the week is easy , it's the weekends .

Dropped my phone , got the gnomes .
110 to start a new phone , 99 for insurance replacement (my model not available) , 125 and a 5 day wait for a replacement screen lens .
No comparison models ....... Bought the Korean prearmored unit . Bill goes down $20 , win I guess .

Jim,
I don't remember if I posted this here before, or not. But I watched a close friend take care of his wife, who had Alzheimers/Dementia, for several years. He could have put her in a facility, and it would have been tremendously easier on him, but he told me "I promised I would never leave her", so he didn't.
Men like you and him are my heroes. Men who make a promise, and stick through no matter how difficult it becomes.
My hat's off to you, and I pray God helps you through.

My best friend , a true lifer , endured , not the right word , his Mom's MS for 25 years and it's progression .
About 8 months after her passing his Dad calls and says he's not sure where he is or how to get home . Same little for most of 50 yr . I won't disclose the conversions we had some of which were hard on me as a confident . I can only imagine what he and you folks are going through . I hope I don't have to with Mom liver disease was bad enough with Dad .

@Bret4207 , I used Quickcrete anchoring cement in a yellow bucket. Mix with water to a gravy-like consistency, pour the hole 2/3 full (for a tee post), knock off the plate, and drive it in.

JonB,
I share a "Fall on Mother's Day birthday" also. I was born on a Monday back in 1953.....story goes my Mother spent he Mother's Day washing clothes, cleaning the house and making food for my family ....she said she "wanted to get that done so she can have this baby tomorrow"!
Anyway today is my 68th birthday & I got up early to celebrate a goal I sent for myself back on February 15th of this year.....I wanted to loose 20 lbs by May 11th and I did it! Looking back it was pretty easy one I set my mind to it.
Good for you! It's much harder as you get older to drop weight, at least for me. I'm down to about 185-188 from 250ish. My goal is 175, but that last 10-15 lbs is a bear! Being able to do 20 in 3 months is pretty darn good in my opinion, so happy b-day and congrats X2!!!

We went through having my wifes parents living with us because her dad got Alzheimers/dementia among other things. I won't pretend to know the exact diff between Alzheimers and dementia, all I know is it wasn't fun. He eventually got so violent that the nursing home was the only option. He calmed right down there, I think my mil was messing up his meds. Then we nursed her through her cancer and Hospice care. Not the best period of our lives for sure, but at least she died in a home with her family.

My sincere thoughts and prayers go out to all who have to work though caring those in that situation and for those who suffer it themselves.

:headscratch: Not sayin that's wrong, just trying to learn something. How come knock off the plate? Seems it would be stronger with it.

smaller hole size.
you got the rock there to steady the post and anchor it just fine, it just needs a little binder filler to lock the post in place.

when I had to fence down to the basalt rock cliff over the black canyon I done the same thing, and then on the end I hung a couple of rocks over the edge to tension everything that direction.

The hole needs to be at least 18" deep. The plate is designed to be just below flush at that depth. If the hole is in solid rock, the plate has to come off. If using a Mansaver driver you drill the hole 1/8" undersized and just let the edge of the hole wipe the plate off as you hammer it home.

I had a visit this morning with an old friend and we got to talking about loading in Casting and shootin. He said he had a few molds but I like to take a look and well of course....

So, I was able to get six molds to try one of which is a lyman 311252, 2 cavity exactly what I was looking for for the 32.

he stores the molds in motor oil so I just finished cleaning decreasing and scrubbing. Of course the molds are in beautiful condition having been stored in oil. We'll see how long it takes to cook that oil out of the pores of this metal. But I've got them on the hotplate and I've got 15 pounds of ingots in the lymon pot. So shortly we're going to find out. ;) :)

Theres no way I can get 18" deep in a lot of holes here. I'm doing good getting it in 10-12" and that takes about 15-20 minutes just to drill and clear in the softer rock. Once they are in they don't move if they are line posts. Corners are different but 18" is asking a heck of a lot. I've not had any luck with the plates coming off while driving them. I end up taking a bar and wedging them off when they hit rock. I've also had posts that are going into a 10" deep hole that won't drive more than 7 or 8". Those are usually the holes that you can tell have some real hard layers of rock. Maybe I need a heavier post driver?

Nope, both are still up for sale. The WSF are one pounders, limit 2 per household. That’s 85 bucks after tax and shipping. But, if you are out you are out.

Two pounds is enough to load maybe twenty five hundred pistol rounds. Four cents a round doesn’t sound to bad these days.

Went out and found my cows yesterday. You'd be surprised how easily they blend in with the brush in the pasture. Spent a good long while attaching fence to posts. Had to stop when the water started coming up over my shoes! Man, it's WET!

man I'm wearing out highway 30 this week.
sun, mon, wed, today.
I did throw some peas in the dirt yesterday after weeding out maybe half of the bottom garden.
they were ones I saved from the peas I grew last year, so it's a mish-mash of Bush, sugar snap, and some of the Giant pod type all randomly tossed together.

I need to finish getting the boat ready for fishing here pretty quick, it's only about three more weeks until we are heading down to the lake for a week.
there isn't a lot to do, but I need to replace some of the cable clamps for the fish finder I never use, double check the charge on the batteries, and fire up the motor.

Taking the wife to get a rental car today, hers was pretty much totaled when she was hit in the rear yesterday evening while siting still by a distracted driver going full bore. It was her first new car and only had 20K on it but now it's a pile of junk, she and the other driver are doing fine just sore a bruised up a bit.

Went in search of 2 X 4 by 8's
Needed four to get my front and back wall frames built for the shed.
Nothing straight with out big chunks missing. I needed real good ones for the header and footer boards.
Last ditch I stopped by the local hardware. Good thing. He has been buying 2 by 12's by 16,s for a local contractor who canceled the last contract. So the last big order, he has been cutting down to nice clean straight smaller lumber.
For 8 bucks each. I now have 4 header - footer boards for my end walls. Nicer then any of the other framing lumber I have used this far. Who cares that they have square corners, and are 3 and 7/16 wide instead of 3 and a half.

That sucks. Glad everyone made it alright.
