Used to use a stick of Jake's purple ceresin mixed with half a stick of his beeswax/Alox, for handgun bullets. It flowed at garage temperature, except during Winter.

Nice Day today ...Wish I went to the range! Weather forecast was dead wrong! Oh Well!
Had to spend much of the day behind the computer working on Photo files from the photoshoot I had earlier this week.... mind numbing!
Took some time to cook up a batch of Korean Style Chicken Feet with Garlic and Ginger sauce and Spicy Chilli!

Man...supper was good! My youngest cat was very interested in the smell but the hot spices turned him off.....although he did enjoy the rice and decorative greens!:)

Figure I would gross you guys out with a photo! Sometimes things that sound weird and look weird are great! ( And are good for you! ...Great food for Arthritics and stomach problems ....lots of collagen and ginger)

I keep telling mine "I'll participate in whatever it takes . We're going to have problems if it requires giving up red meat because it takes me about 3 days of no eggs or red meat to be drooling across the street from a taco joint" . Unfortunately that's not really an exaggeration .

I don’t think I’ve ever went that long but I suspect I would be in the same boat.

I framed 3 sides of a 8x12 shed to be my welding/blacksmithing shop with lumber recycled from another 8x12 shed I dismantled on the west side of the state. Got to get rafters and perlins to screw the recycled tin to...from yet another dismantled shed.

The boy turned 14 yesterday. Took him to the gravel pit today and plinked the afternoon away.

Took out the brass framed Remington 1858 that I bought via mail order when I was thirteen years old. Oh how time flies.

When SP primers dried up I started buying SR primers. I had tested ten on my last outing. I wanted to make sure that they functioned fine when fired in double action. Ran fifty rounds through the Security Six. No failures to fire.

Rugers have that nice long hammer travel to compensate for hard primers.

well you could squish the 6mm bullets up to 6.5 no problem, unfortunately a die set [or just the point form die] is gonna cost a lot more than those 6.5 bullets... if you can find one,,,,,,, and don't need a press to go along with it.

buddy come by with his wife today, he showed me a handful of bullets he cast with my mold.
I just looked at 2 of them without my glasses on and told him to go home and try again.
he says well,, will they shoot?
yeah they'll go down the barrel [shrug] then I pointed to a target sitting on the floor and asked if he wanted groups like those or??
his wife was like just,, throw them back.

I loaned him my thermometer and told him how to set his dial, then explained the cold mold thing again, then gave him one of the bullets from that mold that I had on hand and showed him the difference between a slightly galvanized look and shiny, and flipped on the scale to show him the weight difference.
his alloy is much too hot, and the mold is about 25-30F below where it needs to be.
once I explained less alloy temp and maintaining mold temp through speed [for the second time] I think it's starting to settle in.
I guess next will be sprue size and real time cycles.

Took me a long time before I learned that "turn up the heat" was not the answer to poor quality bullets. I still feel foolish and embarrassed that I posted such at that other place.

I was re-going through a box of boxes, that I bought from Paul/Brad, and realized that two of them are for .223. I'll be giving them to my local friend and occasional shooting pard. He's wanting a .223 bolter and is waiting to see if a Ruger American Ranch Rifle is available. Big-5 has the latest version of the scoped Savage Axis, but he prefers the Ruger.
