Finally gave up on the 18s on the truck and took them to a professional . The old 20/20 Coats machine just won't go that last half inch . It's a 70s vintage machine and will only do up to 17.5 . Turns out it was good money spent . I guess I'll be keeping an eye out for a couple more 5 hole 16 factory steel wheels . A set of black spokes wouldn't hurt anything ....... must in case the truck outlives this set of tires .

Got my first Chinese flu shot this morning. I'm still breathing and there are no signs of any side effects, not even the sore arm that always accompanies the seasonal flu shot. My wife gets shot tomorrow morning.

After Monday's signup fiasco, the qualifying and herding of the participants through the process would have made the guards of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier smile. Credit where credit is due.

two days ago, my aunt and Uncle have scheduled Covid shots for themselves and my Mom (who lives with them). It's a 60 mile drive (one way) to the location. They were all scheduled for the same time 2pm on Friday. The schedulers have called twice, changing the times...Now they are all spread out through the day. While this wouldn't normally be a real concern, except this location is in Minneapolis and with the rise in car jacking, I hope my Uncle is carrying.

Got a week off from the remodel job I'm doing, found a guy to do the mud and taping. I will leave him alone As I hate drywall.
So a day off. What to do. Oh yeah, snow needs attention that should fill up my day. Snowblowing, shoveling, clearing shed roofs. Need to get ahead of it as its supposed to snow for 4 more days. Fun. Well it used to be fun. The one bright spot is that 32" Honda track snowblower, it kicks butt.

John G,
I've looked at those 32" Honda with tracks...They look awesome...awesomely big...too big my my yard, LOL.
I've been watching the classifieds for a nice shape older 2 stage Honda for some time, although I don't really need it. I'd just like to replace my 7hp Toro...with maybe a 5 or 5.5 hp wheeled 2 stage Honda. Tomorrow, I may go look at a HS55 that ain't too worn or rusty, priced at $300...listed on Craigslist a few days ago.

JonB, 2 years ago I sold my 828 Honda snowblower. Twenty five years old and I still got $1100 for it. The 32" has a 13 hp engine and 4 inches wider. 5 more hp for the extra 4 inches of chute. Steering clutches, it handles far easier than the older 828. It throws dry snow 60 feet.
I also have a 200 yard driveway besides all the clearing around the house and shop. I do hire a buddy with a truck plow most of the time, but there are still lots of areas to blow.

The body shop finally finished the truck. What with waiting for a new windshield and back seat side glass to become available, and the entire paint crew coming down with the Chinese flu, it was a six week wait.

After 26 years the clear coat had flaked off the hood and top, and there was rust round the windshield, back glass, gutters and cab-mounted brake light. Looks and smells like a new truck.

Tomorrow I'll re-mount the tool box and organize all the stuff that goes in it.

Oh, and I have an inside rear view mirror again. Going back a very long time, the mirror kept falling off the windshield. I tried super glue and "mirror" glue, but neither one held for any length of time. About 10 years ago, I lost the little button that attaches to the windshield and the mirror slides onto, so the mirror became a backseat occupant. Of course, that big blind spot is back -- just a bit bigger than that motorcycle that's stopped across the intersection.

Did some work around the house, worked on the truck some, got ready for a gun trading expedition tomorrow. Managed to do some work on a paper I've been working on for a while, hope to get that done soon.

I don't know if others do this, but I tend to take the rear view interior mirror and move it up as close to the headliner as I can and adjust it there. Lessens the "blind spot" mentioned.

I've been reading and seeing a lot of mentions of the ammo/components shortage this past week. It occurs to me that most of my stuff is in unsecured locations. I have a dead upright freezer sitting in my future woodshop (it's a rabbit house currently, only 3 left) that would hold a great deal of what I've got. I'm thinking that might be a good idea to store it under lock and key. Plus, I imagine I'd find stuff I forgot I even own!

What, dead up right freezer, unsecured? Did you peek in my shootin' shack?

Dead, up right freezer, in shop, is my powder locker and extra brass storage. Primers are stored. in an entirely different location.....my walk in 10'x10' vault. Reserve powder is stored in a detached garage, underground. Plastic 55 gallon drum, sunk below ground, with removable lid, just a couple of inches above the cement floor.

I thought dead upright freezers were the mandate for powder magazines? I keep mine plugged in with the compressor turned off so I have a really nice light come on in there when I open the door. Actually, mine isn't dead, it's just ancient and frosts everything up so badly that we replaced it. In a pinch if the new one dies I can pull the powder out and shove the food into this one.

Redundancy and backup is my modus operandi.

What you've just described sounds like a bunker.

There are already several other dead freezers doing other work here, including storage for all my moulds and powder. One more can't hurt!

Took Mrs. smokeywolf to the sawbones yesterday (GP, not cardiologist). She has made great progress in fighting off the diabetes. Lost over 40 lbs. and her A1C, which measured 8.0 when admitted to the hospital 4 months ago is now down to 5.9. Doc took her off the Metformin completely (she was on lowest possible daily dosage) and told her to focus more on keeping some weight on and less on her blood sugar. Said to expect blood sugar to bounce back up a bit over the next month or so, but should calm back down again.

Bought a stationary bike. Should be here tomorrow.

Did a beer can chicken last night (no beer or beer can) on the Kamado. MMMM! It was real good; maybe the best I've ever done.
