Redding Profile Crimp and newer RCBS are terrible. The Lee one I have that MtnGun44 gave me from 3-4 years ago is perfect.

I use one I made and it has a far steeper angle than the Hornady I was using.

I like Reddings profile crimp for some applications. But know its a ROLL style not a taper crimp. YES it tapers some as well but rolls making it not a taper.

IMHO LEE made quite a dumpster fire of crimping dies.

When they came out with the FACTORY CRIMP DIE. It did solve one of the biggest problems new re loaders had. Crimping and seating in one step. Also the design if the die is not case legnth dependant. Its a collet style crimp.

Then they started calling taper and toll crimp dies FACTORY CRIMP dies thoroughly fudging up the works.

Dad's favorite was the 452488. Great little bullet. Works well in revolvers too. I have a taper crimp die.

I am glad to hear the Lee 230 grain RN TL is a good one. I got a six cavity mold andbeen meaning to cast a bunch up.

The problem with the Lee factory crimp die was that group size doubled with cast bullets. Redding profile crimp dies are adjustable, but you have to have a micrometer to measure.

I get by with the Lee 200swc and 230tc.
The 230 TC is becoming the favorite.
I size them .452” after PC.
Usually use Bullseye or Red Dot but thinking of AA#2 next batch.

I borrowed a Saeco 225 TC bullet and fell in love!! It shot and loaded so flippin well I didnt want to use anything else in my Camp Carbine.
I watched for months to buy this mold used but all went for far too much $$ like up to doubl original costs. Then I saw LEE made a 230 TC and bought one. Its been just as good as that Saeco and @ 50$ for a 6cav I was in heaven. I had previously found the 401-175 tc to be a awesome bullet. So when LEE released the 356-147 tc this year I grabbed it up. These bullets have been very good shooters for me.
