so... Finally found the 357 Herrett setup! I am now complete (until, of course, I find the nex oddball wildcat Contender bbl! lol!). Stable now includes (all 14" bbls) 223 (Bullberry), 7-30 Water, and 357 Herrett; and 10" 30 Herrett bbl. Was looking through some old Handloader mags and some other stuff and found some stuff on Herrett stocks, then his and Bob Milek's work on the Herrett cartridges. This was way back info from time I was in HS/entering college. Wanted a Contender and the 30 and 357 H's ever since. Took me long enough - 40 years!!!!

Oscar,
Do you really have 24" barrels in all those chamberings? I'd bet that the TC's are 23".
Not to lessen your enthusiasm but the Herrett chambers were designed by Steve and developed by Bob to more efficiently utilize a 10" pressure curve and once the barrel approaches around 14 inches or so, you'd be better served by using standard chambers of 30-30 and 35 Rem with much less case prep required and enjoying a gain in velocity.
I appreciate the nostalgic draw of the Herrett chambers and use them both as awesome handguns but for carbine and rifle use I go for a larger volume of propellant than the Herrett allows. Here's some of Bob's data or the 357 Herrett from back in the '80's: pardon the blur357 Milek DuPont.JPG
But to further complex the pistol/rifle relationship of a Herrett cartridge, Here's a nifty conversion that I've cobbled together in 30H.

dang it... 24" is a typo. And hadn't looked at the 30 in awhile. Still need to get it up and running. the 30 is a 10" and the rest are 14" pistol bbls.

Sir, you carry on a fine tradition and reverence to the cartridge developers that have gone before us!

We shall see! I have yet to start reloading for them. I read about a lot of frustration, and I am doubling the learning curve with both the Herretts AND the Contender....
