Tearing up sod from .41 Mag muzzleblast (or so it felt)

Range day, or judgement day, your pick.

Took some toys to the range, got the .41 Mag on paper with the (cheaper!) 210gr Berry's in front of 5gr of Trail Boss. Switched over to the 240gr Platinum Tips. Fistful of fury, even with a LER scope slowing the recoil down some.

After 5 rounds of pricey Platinum Tips, I am 4" high at 50yds, well within minute of deer past 100yds. I need to run the figures for proper mathification.

Rear scope clamp knob worked loose while I was trying things at 100yds. Retightened, and she started to perform again.

Went to Hornady, punched in some data, should be @ 4" high at 50 and 75, 3" high at 100yds, dead on at 125, and 5" low at 150yds... I don't think I want to bother with over 125, but whatever.

A 414 doesn't have muzzle black compared to some handguns. My 10" 'tender in K-hornet is amazing with a case full of 1680 and a 35 gr bullet. I need to shoot it at night to really see the fireball.
My 309 JDJ 15" barrel is really a blaster. Running 50+ gr of 4350 and a 165 ballistic tip makes for some blast. If it wasn't so amazingly accurate I would shoot it. Pop cans at 200 are easy.

I didn't really want to start my own thread, just wanted to share the photos of my 3" 657 that I had at the range today. Shootin' some 196gr Wad cutters (Accurate mold) with 7.6gr Red Dot. I think the frost is prematurely out of the ground (strange for this time of year in MN)...as I was shooting at a soup can, and making it dance :D I was really tearin' up the sod (as mentioned in this thread title).

SL-68B rocks.

Good to stretch the legs on the old wheelguns, wish I had a sillywet range here at home so I could learn to shoot better.

Kevin, it really isn't. The load is about equivalent to 44 spl, IMHO. And the gun has some heft to it, even for a 3" barrel.
The grips feel good, but the finishing in the FG area, is a bit rough...maybe that was intentional? ...like stippling? It's roughness appears to be original and not a bad attempt at refinishing.
