Some times things just work out the way they ARN'T suppose to.several years ago I purchased this mold when they were around $18 -22.00. surprisingly it cast great bullets right off the bat with no problems at all!

I first tried them in my remington 700 VS .308,that is currently in possesion of my nephew. With that gun I was getting 3/8" groups@ 100 yds consistantly with 16.5 grains of 2400 and CCI LR Primers and sized .310 lubed with Ben's red today I tried the same load in my replacement 700, low and behold, I got a .51" group!

Yeah, I’m sure Ben would make ”disposal” of your old Ben’s Red much different and safer then what you are doing now.

Well I still use Ben's Red on some of my calibers and almost always BLL even on top of PC coatings! The BLL has a tendency to stabilize Accuracy!
Ben: we all still love all your hard work coming up with these Lubes!
You most definitely deserve a tribute on the Cast Bullet Hall of Fame! ;)

Bens lube must have come along when I was in limbo out there in the ether someplace. Got a link to what this stuff is?

I only use Ben's red & B L L here too. My first batch came out perfect, & I have all ingredients to make a second . Just follow his instructions it will come out, same with his BLL.

Is it Ben's Red you want the link to ? ?
If so, here it is :

Thank you Ben, just what I was looking for. I assume "BLL" is Bens Liquid Lube"? Something like Lee's Mule Snot? I'm getting the itch to fill some brass and, while I still have a case of 50/50 from the long defunct "GAR for Reloading" company, I enjoy gaining options, my Mule Snot (which can work rather well if the bullet fits) is about gone. Got a link to making BLL?

I can’t remember which member here used a old crockpot to make Ben’s Red, but made a lot of since, no danger of over heating and burning the mix. Do need to pay attention when using a conventional hot plate or stove. I won’t need another batch for a while but I’m looking at thrift stores for a used crockpot for when I need to cook more. Might be a while as I made a double batch right off the bat and unfortunately I’ve hardly been doing any shooting. Need to change that.

Well this thread got “drifted“ over to praise for Ben’s Red which isn’t surprising, but your point of the lowly LEE 2 cavity mold is well taken. In my limited experience the 2 cavity LEE are hot or cold, not much in between it seems. I have a couple that are buggers and most that are great right out of the box. Ended up replacing some of the LEE designs with their 6 cavity molds when they became available, and other then the increase in production they are nice molds. Kinda wish LEE would make a 4 cavity.
Lyman, RCBS, one Seaco I can think of, and I’ve been buying NOE, Arsenal and recently received my first Accurate mold. I bought 6 or 8 NEI molds made by Walt years ago, awesome molds, but I will admit to the guys that complain about Lee mold quality, yes there are some that take more work then they should and yes the older ones might not be as round as they should be. But, I’ve had good luck with them and if one doesn’t work, oh well, your not out much. Of the 60 or 70 molds I have probably 20 are LEE keepers. $40 or $50 compared to $100 or $150, it certainly depends on your use.
It’s nice to see you having such great results with your LEE mold, although I’ve seen your targets before and I think you could make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear as far as groups go.
Makes me embarrassed to post my targets. Might have to cheat by representing 50 yard targets as 100 yard targets.

Ben's liquid lube changed casting for me. It changed it from a just quasi interested person tinkering with cast bullets... to a die hard caster. BLL is just that easy and that well performing for my purposes. Without it, I'm not sure I'd still be casting.

Thank you Ben!

Ben, looking at your list of ingredients, I recall I took interest in your lube a few years back, I just plain forgot. I seem to be more forgetful these days, funny how that works!
