California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
This past Wednesday I saw a Navy Osprey, with its wings in the helicopter position, on its approach to the local airport. Never seen one, before. Strange noise. I assume it made it to the airport, because I didn't hear any report of it crashing.

Popper hasn't been doing this nearly as long as most of us. And probably won't be doing it too much longer. Gave the beretta 12 ga to SIL, mark III to GK, 1170 12 ga to SIL, AR10 to GK, jut keeping what i want to play with.
You got it all Mike.

It will be interesting to learn the cause of that crash, provided they release details when known.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that bird strike(s) were the cause.
This crash could have been much worse with the plane going down into a residential neighborhood.
As it was, only some brush was destroyed, in addition to the plane of course.

Internet woes, again. Fifth tech in the past two years diagnosed the problem as being in the local central office. Yep, intermittent connection. Why the lady and three other guys weren't smart enough to figure that out is another of life's mysteries.

The eves on our new to us house are about 12' above the ground, rain gutters go all the way around, maybe 18-20 aspen and cottonwood trees in the front and back yards. The gutters get filled up pretty good and my ladder only extends out to just over 13ft, so getting up to clean things out... I'm not that brave or foolish. Last summer we looked into putting in some "Leaf Filters", the install went fine but with the rain we have had since then there is water coming out between the gutters and fascia boards that didn't occur before. I can deal with that, unexpected things happen, call Leaf Filter" to have someone sent out to correct the problem areas.

1st appointment, the tech, guy, gal, person, whatever pronoun is appropriate, was scheduled for an local install in Billings before us, 2-1/2 hours away, but were told he will be there between 8am and noon. 3pm comes and goes, no tech. Call in and the "tech" is still on the install. That was a wasted day. Two weeks later we finally get a call from the Leaf Filter's regional office in Billings wanting to reschedule, ok fine. Informed them again we are 2-1/2 hours away, plan on it taking a day to come out, fix, drive back. Basically told... "No worries mate, she'll be right" Phht, I spent 23 years working with Aussies and Kiwi's on both sides of the big pond. I know bettter, when you here that, chances are it is not going to turn out well. I was once fluent in English, profanity, sarcasm, Kiwi, and Aussie.

2nd appointment...... told expect arrival between 8am and 10:30am. 11:30am comes and goes. Wife calls..... "oh the tech went to do an install first, he is only 30min out." Noon.... 12:30..... 1pm.......... 1:30pm................. 2pm...................... Umph. :headbang:. This isn't like trying to shoot cast through a 6.5x55.

Probably all contract labor, and only get paid for an install. Live and learn, thinking we're pretty well screwed and will need to contract with a 3rd party to have the problems areas fixed, or gather up some scaffolding, or a much longer and more stable ladder before winter sets in full force or wait in until spring.

i'd drive over to their office.
you'd be surprised what happens when you go straight into the office with the big chair and fancy stuff on the walls.

Blue berries sound good right now.
Going to get the only 2 things I like with pumpkin spice in it. A pumpkin pie, and a pumpkin roll.
Oh.. gas was 3.629 today so topped off both vehicles last night.

Living in the desert, I don't understand why people put up gutters? Water just falls to the ground right?

You know that wheel barrow full of sand you move from the edge of the patio and how the lawn looks like it's 4" above the side even though it was 2" below when the side walk was poured ? Same deal with the gutters except the sand takes months/years to pile up and sometimes it goes away altogether only it's water 1-8x a month and everyone has a self filling pond .

more like 4.27 here for 85 octane.
it used to go up 12-15 cents from there for each step, but now it's more like 40 cents all they way to 5.50 for premium.
it seems to defy the law of supply and demand.

As it gets to be the season for putting small engines away and getting out snowmobiles, alcohol free gasoline is again available for $7.999 a gallon today.
