Tick removal is as close as your thumbnail

I have used tweezers, a "Tick Key", and fingertips, but I let my right thumbnail grow out to about 1/16th of an inch. This way the nail lays close to the tick head if not under it, and you simply pinch the tick between the edge of the nail and your index finger.

Just pulled five ticks off my Belle, nice clean pulls, no head left attached. There are some really tiny ticks out there, and I use tweezers on them cause they are barely as thick as my nail.

FWIW - do NOT suck your thumb. Just like after casting, wash your hands after pulling a tick.

We comb our Brittany with a fine tooth comb at home, and the small ticks are usually crawling on the teeth. But the ticks are not always picked up, so constant combing is required. Or so my Belle thinks.
