That Time of the year to break out the crock pot! Set it up this morning at 10 am with some Chicken Thighs, Carrots Potatoes and wild mushrooms! Also some fresh Thyme, Marjoram and Parsley & Chicken stock.
About 3:30 made some Dumpling batter and added that to the top!

Then plated it up 45 minutes later! Real comfort food on a cold day!

got a few more days till mine hits.

supper tonight.
we done a pork roast then i cubed it and made a teriyaki for itwhich i done up in the cast iron skillet.
not american teriyaki a normal 'shiny glaze' [which is what teriyaki directly translates as]
i wanted to simply eat the pork how i cooked it, but the plan was for enchiladas, and i was over ruled.
next time i'm eating the shiny pork cubes.

We'll finally all of the Thanksgiving left overs are gone! But I realized I had nothing to make for Supper! So a short trip from my house to the market landed me some "Price reduced" Italian Hot Sausages! Not something I normally buy but the price was right!
Last week I found something in the bakery at Walmart.... It was called "English Toast" bread! It Is like the old fashion store breads of the late 1950's & early 1960's A Heavy dense White bread with low sodium and low sugar content! At 120 cals a slice it is more then I usually buy! However it was great with open face turkey sandwiches after Turkey Day for the leftovers!
Tonigh I boiled up a few Of those sausages ( Boiled because I'm of Polish decent!) Then I split them and had them on this bread! One side of the bread with Sriracha Catsup and the other side with good Polish Kosciusko Spicy Brown Mustard!
What a fantastic mix of cultures! they were delicious!

Under the weather so more turkey soup. Thought I'd save her from left-overs, found good sized slice of cheese cake in the fridge.

I'm dying to have Venison again! Haven't been out in 28 years for regular rifle season! Most of my nephews ( who used to provide me some have aged and stopped hunting! Best I can do from Friends is a liver and heart ...which I still cherish!
I'm going to venture forth, by myself, into the wilderness ! May get something .....hope I can get it out myself!

Tonights supper: I scored a package of Lamb loin chops at the market yesterday on sale! Got 6 of them so that will be 3 meals for me....( Wife dislikes lamb!) Pan seared and then oven roasted until medium rare! Excellent and tender!

Also, not on the grill. Mother's Paprika recipe. Can be done with chicken (any cut or mix), veal (round steak) or venison chops.

Done today, using boneless chicken breasts. Add 1/2 stick of butter to large fry pan and melt, without burning the butter. Sear your choice of meat, lightly on both sides after liberally coating with sweet Hungarian paprika. Turn down heat to allow to simmer/stew. Cover with thick slices of onion...............onion adds moisture and makes a gravy. We add a healthy splash of red wine. In this case Pinot Noir, which we're serving with the meal. Simmer, in covered fry pan for half hour then turn pieces over and cook for another half hour.

Picture before turning.

Finished product. Serve with mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus & corn on the cob.

Three yellow perch and a sauger are just about thawed. Fresh made coleslaw and home made tartar sauce. If I only had some rye bread now.

I buy my breads fresh from the bakery ....bring them, home split them up in ziplocks and toss them in my deep freezer!
This way I can have fresh bread of any type I want when I need it! Take out what you need, let it thaw and Viola Great fresh bread! Freezing does not change the bread but refrigeration does! go figure
