that even looks like a professional presentation.
our dinner is gonna be home made[ish] chili and crackers.
i'll probably bump it a titch with some real chili powder, a little cheese, and a touch of ghost pepper.

Too Hot for Me fiver!
My taste are more in line with the Aleppo chili .......More warmth in the chest then in the throat & tongue
This year I'm trying to grow the Urfa Chili from Turkey ...Supposed to be like the Aleppo but more of a smokey chocolaty tone all under 10,000 scoval units
More flavor not so much heat. When it come to flavor Aleppo is still the best in my book

I'm sure it will blue blue gill next week but that is ok with me.
I never tire of making food on my old grill!

I'm a big fan of the scotch bonnet peppers.
a bit of heat and a nice sweet flavor all in one.
I can do the ghost peppers, and most others like the habanero no problem, but I am not a fan of the jalapeno in most dishes, it isn't hot it just doesn't taste good to me. [except maybe corn dogs from the gas station]

Fiver,
If you can grow chilis I can send you some Aleppo seeds! Just send me your address ( hard to get them from Syria any more ...getting pretty rare) They are one of the oldest hot chilis that have been sold on the ancient trade route for thousands of years!

BTW they are a Pimento type so they actually grow on a small tree. Easily over wintered in warm climates!
I have overwintered a few in NE PA! for about 3 years until my big orange tiger cat decided the plants were better then the peppers!

My sister in law grows Jalapeño peppers, my favorite. They're sweeter than the store bought.

The stuff you grow, catch and harvest always tastes so much better than what you buy at the store!

Dang, Jim, that's cruel and unusual punishment for a fella who just got in from a few hours working in a hot shop and hasn't had his supper yet! Looks scrumptious, I'm sure it will be well enjoyed. Congrats on a productive week!

I'm not a big fan of Jalapeño peppers unless they're canned and most of the label is in Spanish (like in the "ethic" aisle at H-E-B, for those of you lucky enough to live in H-E-B foodstore country). They taste like hot bell peppers (so do green Chili peppers) and that flavor is a huge turn-off to me. I like the little Piquins and have a bush planted just for cooking. Lots of other good ones out there, I could be pepper connoisseur if there were enough room in my head for one more category of obsession.

We're having back strap from a hog I shot on our lease last February.

I'd BBQ it, but the wife marinated it in home made teriyaki sauce, mash potatoes and fresh snapped green beans.

I know I couldn't get them to grow outside, we really struggle to get tomatoes, and that's after planting green house grown plants.

I could probably get them growing in the house and keep them inside year round, we have tons of ambient light in the entrance way.
anything outside needs to grow and bear fruit from mid june to mid September [sooner would be better, we see cold nights and sometimes snow on both ends]

I was on another private forum awhile ago....supposed to be cast bullets but it was more like a social club! I didn't learn much but what I did take away was a keen liking for their "summer grilling" section!
Thought I may try to bring this kind of thing here if the folks like it.
It is interesting to see what we all like to cook on the grill across this wide range of members in many places!

we had a baby shower BBQ thing for Littlegirl this afternoon.
I got my BIL brought his smoker up from Utah and we cold smoked 2 Briskets for20 hours and then cooked some Burgers on it for lunch.
I got 2 thin slices of the brisket before we put it out and 0 Burgers.
I guess they were good [shrug] since everything was gone before I got any of it.
oh well,,, the burritos I made when I got home were filling.
