Trevor's Gun Rack

My grandson Trevor didn't have a place for his guns.
He asked me a few days ago to build him a gun rack.
This one can either sit on the floor or be attached to the wall.
It holds 8 firearms. I wanted it to be able to hold rifles with scopes,
so that was calculated in the dimensions of the rack.
I still have some minor sanding , staining and finishing to do.
He will be using this one when I'm dead and gone.............

( Notice the bolt clearance )

Looks great. I suppose he will be blowing past that one, capacity-wise fairly soon. :)

When I was a kid, and only had two long guns, my brother made a semicircular wall hanging
one, and we used it for years.

Knowing Trevor like I do right now, he may need about a dozen of these.

What’s up with the empty spots?

Ben, you are teaching him woodworking too, right? That kid is damn lucky to have someone to show him the ropes.

Looks like you made it so that it will disassemble, fold and travel with him. He will appreciate that in time. Nice work.

Looks nice Ben, made myself something similar long ago but not as slick as that.

An open rack can be secured from burglars by removing the bolts and hiding them well or locking them in a small safe. A rifle without a bolt has no street or hock value.

I have finished the sanding, staining, and now have 3 coats of finish on.
The finish is dry and rock hard.
Trevor should be good to go !

Really nice. He will love it, and probably still be using it when he is your age.

Maybe telling his grandson, "My grandfather made this gun rack".

Also, that is some really high quality plywood. Where do you find it?

Nothing short of beautiful Ben!
A true craftsman can make plane piece of wood amazing and you have that ability sir.
That will be a lifetime gift to him.
Way better than anything purchased for the same use.....
Job well done :)

OK, darn. I was hoping you had some secret source. I have seen aircraft grade stuff
about that nice, but not easy to get and crazy expensive.

A friend of mine gave me the plywood to build Trevor's gun rack. Can't beat that !
