I purchased that mould as well, but I thought Buckshot had something to do with it. Mine also weighs ~140gr. with a base ~.315" -.316". Sized to .314" and lubed conventionally or just swirled around in liquid ALOX (or LOX as Felix used to call it), it's great for plinking with loads of 8 - 8.5gr. Unique or 9 - 9.5gr. Blue Dot. Btw, I seat mine with all lube grooves covered as opposed to into the rifling and see little difference in accuracy, but slick feeding. Lastly, it shoots best of all when I taper it via the Ed Wosika die I've often mentioned. I've posted pics of the different results as well.

My guess, an experiment by Buckshot. Not a lube groove but a weak section for long neck cases where the base can swage up to fill the chamber/bore. Problem with the Lee sub (BT) that some remove. Very long rear band won't bump unless pure is used. Where fast pistol powder is used (plinkers), hit with high PSI and smush the band up to fill space.

Or use it in a BP caliber .30 something.
Surely I am not the only one to ever crimp in tumble lube grooves ? But if so I patent the procedure !

Seeing that wide deep groove that was my very first thought as well.

But its not a common Black Powder caliber to say the least...

If Buckshot had anything to do with it Allen should be able to get the info from him easy enough.

oh i'm also inclined think if it were Buckshot it'd be more likely to have been made for the 7.65 Argie rather than a normal 30 cal.
pretty positive it would have been specced to 315-.001.

The bullet certainly has a " cavernous " lube groove.
Looks a bit like some of the old black powder era moulds.
I can't picture that one running out of lube.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Got ahold of Buckshot. He says it's not one of his designs. ?????? This is what you get for not keeping records.

Thanks for asking.

Maybe when I decide to not keep it, and try and sell it, maybe I make up some wild story about the GB and maybe include some reference to the assperly aimless, LOL.
