Weaver K8 question?

I have acquired this scope with an adjustable objective. Is the ring toward the rear of scope the one that is supposed to turn or is it the center ring? My other K8 is the non adjustable type.
Thanks

the forward part turns.
you turn that line to line up [approximately] with the marked distance you are going to shoot to take the parallax out.
[make the target come into focus]
most scopes have a fixed 100 yd[ish] parallax and they kind of fudge around the rest of the distances.
with the A/O types you set the front to a distance then adjust the back to make everything clear.
from then on when you point the rifle at another distance [say 200 yds] you turn the AO portion at the front and it will make the sight picture clear.

I use the A/O's in the field and they can be off a little bit one way or the other some.
but I will turn the AO while looking through the scope then take a quick glance at what it say's as a PO Man's range finder.
after using it and flipping back and forth enough you will learn which direction and how much they are off the mark and you can estimate ranges pretty damn good with them.
certainly a lot faster and simpler than trying to count foot ball fields or get another gadget out of your pocket.
