What do you listen to while casting?

I rarely listen to music, while casting, much preferring my let my mind wander, and get into a casting rhythm. When I do, though, I have a portable stereo tuned to a classic station, but don't know squat about it. That, or it's Pandora on the phone -- Allman Brothers ("Blue Sky" on an endless loop would be super cool! I've been enjoying its running through my mind for the last two days.) John Prine, Robert Earl Keen, Waylon, Eric Clapton, The Band, Rod Stewart, some Poco, David Allen Coe . . .

My nephew, a general contractor, is building a house (mansion?) for Def Leppard's one-armed drummer.

Maybe NPR, in the background, but usually my dogs and whatever is stirring in the woods. Only thing it seems on the radio or TV anymore is all advertisement. Have some old country on CD's but the deck kept popping open so I taped it shut a couple years ago!

I got options.
I have satellite radio rigged into the shop and a set of speakers in the reloading room I can switch over to from out there.
I also have a CD player in both places.
the TV is on satellite and has about 120 channels of music to choose from.
I got U-tube rigged through a sound system and a play list about 5 days long I can listen to.
plus all 3 of the MP-3 players are loaded with a good 20-30hrs of various tunes.
or I got the record player everyone within 200yds gets to listen to if I crank it up about half way.

I kind of float along in the 90's or 80's, or a lot of new BPM stuff ranging from chill step up through steve aoki and Tiesto is a favorite.
lately it's been a lot of Tove Lo, older Phantogram, a mix of Kaelin Mikla's albums, or most anything from Night Club, with a bit of Warpaint thrown in to change things up.
most days I wake up with something playing in my head [could be Dean Martin, George Clinton, or Johnny cash shrug?] so I just roll with it and go from there.

I always play a radio. Old Country or 70’s Rock n Roll. I cannot get any commentary shows to tune.

I have Bad tinnitus and I don’t like dead quiet very often. But it’s mostly white noice I don’t have it loud.

It varies, depending on mood. Sometimes it's Classic Rock, other times it's Smooth Jazz. Via, local radio station or Cindy's I-Pod with 6000+tunes.

I like most music, except Rap. Not crazy about most Country music. Grew up in the 60's so I've been exposed to music from the 50's, onward. Favorite songs include "What does it take to win your Love for Me" by JR Walker and the All Stars. Also partial to "In the Hall of the Mountain King/Bolero" by SRC. Everything, by Jazz guitar artist Craig Chaquico. He was a founding member of Jefferson Starship, early in his career.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
Mostly talk radio here, although often nothing at all.

The old radio only picks up local radio stations and it comes on when the lights come on. One is old/classic rock and the other is the new stuff (not a fan). I thought about replacing it with something with WiFi because I enjoy audio books but after a second thought, nixed the idea because I figured I'd be paying more attention to listening than what I was doing, probably not a good idea.

I said Tommy Dorsey I actually don't care to much for him but I just couldn't get Glen Miller to come to the surface .
I like fun upbeat happy sounding stuff . I once had a road tape that started with "in the mood" 1938 and ended with "women" , Foreigner circa 1978 via Belafonte , Buddy Holly , Beatles , and AC/DC with stops for the flight of the bumblebee , the bee bumble boogie , Charlie Daniels , Rod Stewart , Golden Earing , Kinks and the Ventures .
Who doesn't like the Boogie woogie bugle boy and Sweet Home Alabama or Gimme 3 Steps or the Streak ?

I have tinnitus that is loud enough to be heard over whatever background noise there happens to be. There are quiet times when I just listen to the sounds my brain is making, with each ear having its own unique ringing.

Oooh, I forgot about Led Zep. None of their CDs in the gun room though. I'm one of those dinosaurs who never got into digital media other than CDs, so if I didn't buy a hard copy I don't have it. No sat or internet radio, either. Maybe I need to fix that. I set up a nice feed at work from the sat radio and get 80s hard rock hits like Scorpions, Styx, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Def Leppard, and so on.
Download the free pandora app on your phone. Have to listen to a few adds but lots of good music.

Fiver mentioned Tiesto....got three of his CDs in the truck, one in the player right now. He really got the balance and dynamics right with his recordings, they can be cranked way up and not seem loud (unlike AVB which will beat up your ears in the treble range). Great sounds for a vehicle because it drowns out everything else yet sounds super-clean.

chuckle I get to listen to a lot of ''Johnny Dollar'' on the satellite radio.
I actually really liked that show so no feelings hurt here, Gracie Allen cracks me up so I listen to her and George every chance I get.

yeah Tiesto isn't quite what you'd expect.
but god he sounds good and is rhythmic.
I keep his CD''s in the Mustang for the longer highway drives, he keeps you upbeat without going overboard on the bleeps and bloops or any real long instrumental sections.

problem with listening to that is some weird old lady wanders in the room and tries to start a conversation or tries to tell me something I don't want to hear.

I mostly listen to "Ringing", by tinnitus. Same here + the lady wants something else done. Or talk about the grandkids or something. Dinner is always ready about half way thru a pot.
