What is your weather today?

Speaking of winter, -29 below this morning. Supposed to start moderating up to about zero by middle of next week.
Got to head to town this morning do some errands.
The one thing we generally don’t have is wind here. The 2 places I’ve been the coldest is the Great Lakes area because of the wind and moisture, and Amarillo because of high winds in a nasty storm and not being prepared. Wind changes everything.

Amarillo? You must have been REALLY underprepared. It does get mighty cold when the northwest wind comes howling off of the Rockies and across the plains, but nothing like some other places. High humidity is the other thing that gets me down, even at 50⁰.

Just beautiful late Fall days, a little mild, not making ice but since I will be heading to the Aransas Pass to shoot ducks and catch salty fish in less than 2 weeks I'm not ready for ice fishing anyway. Lows about 30, highs in low 40's partly cloudy. I wish I still needed a deer, I have the urge to grab a muzzle loader and go sit in the woods.

Pretty typical mid-Fall weather here, low 80s at 3 P.M., mid-40s overnight. CA politics are ludicrous, but our climate around Redlands is very hard to beat.

Yep, Ya just can't beat SoCal weather.
Mid 50's at night, mid 70's at mid-day. A few fleecy clouds, otherwise beautiful blue skies.

Depressing; Cold, windy, snowy and dark! That is the thing I most dislike in NEPA in the late fall and winter.....It is the dull, dreary days with no sun!
Especially since are summer was similar ( except it was warm) ! Load up on vitamin D and hope for better times!

The Bia San Quintien (more like canteen than the Cali prison) is pretty hard to beat . June , July and August are like 75-80° days and 65° nights and December , January , and February are 65-75° days and 55° nights . Its right on the Pacific , the Campo was about 5 miles up the bay and 12' above it .
Its about 2° north of San Antonio Texas and 1350 miles west . 120 miles south of Ensinada Baja California Mexico .

Cure for cold winters.
Many years ago I installed a built in hot tub in our bathroom. It was great until a fitting started to leak. Could not get to it unless I would remove it and flip it up to get to the underside. Well it sat for many years until Karyn said one day it would sure be nice to have a sauna. “”. Ok I’ll remove the old hot tub and build a sauna. Well the reason I never repaired the hot tub was the massive effort to repair in the first place. So after much study trying to come up with a plan to remove in one piece so it could be installed on the porch or sold, well way to big of a project.
Sawzall to the rescue. Came out in 4 pieces.
Well I then built a cedar sauna with a Finlandia sauna electric heater. So about 3 times a week it’s great for chasing the chills out of the bones.

Snowed a couple of inches overnight. Currently 34*F and it is a sloppy mess. Heading for a high in the upper 30's so the snow shovel can stay in the garage. Supposed to warm up the next few days, back in the upper 40's.
Heading for the U.P. tomorrow, muzzle loader season for deer. Not so warm up there.

Did I ever tell you fellas that I love winter? I really do. I will admit, it's does get tiresome, if the deep cold lasts more than 3 months
Autumn is still hanging on, dang it. My Brother in Detroit is posting photos of a snow storm and in Glencoe, we are getting a few 50º days in a row. I think tree pruning is on the agenda today.

Go shoot a Deer and give it to some old people who are too close to God to hunt anymore. Win win!

I feel badly for the folks living in Ice Station Zebra conditions right now. 81* as I tap this out, high 40s overnight. A beautimous day, as Buckshot is fond of saying at such times.

Lakes are freezing up now,,ponds have enough ice to walk on.
As a matter of curiosity I searched for the difference between a lake and a pond the defining difference is that a lake has a photosomething layer where the transmission of light stops and a pond does not ......... So Walker Lake with a depth of only 250 ft remaining has been a lake since 10,000 BC or so and Lake Tahoe has only been a lake for about 25-30 years before that since the water cleared up from the earthquake that left a standing forest to petrify on the bottom it was just a pond .

We peaked about 74°F today , clear skies , dry , expecting 36-38° overnight .
