What is your weather today?

Once it warms up to about zero it’s shirt sleeve weather. It’s when it’s dropping that it takes getting used.
It’s just a matter of getting used to it.
But after 40 plus years of this I’m ready for a change. Just need to be a professional snowbird.

Got a 1/2" of rain, overnight. We can use it. On the news, this AM, North Central Arkansas is under wild fire danger.

With the rain came a cold wind, out of the north. Next two nights will require plugging in the birdbath deicer and returning Cindy's plants back inside the garage. Back into the 70's Thursday and Friday (77*).

We missed the snow by a couple of degrees yesterday. Lots of the State got snow. I called my Mom in NE WI a little west of Green Bay and she said she had 6" and still snowing. We had a misty rain for several hours, not a lot of accumulation.

About 1 am this morning a front blew in from the NW. Strong nasty biting wind with the temp falling. It was 35 last night and it is 23 right now. The wind is out of the north now and cuts like a dull knife. Classic high pressure front, scudding clouds, periods of sun, more fast moving clouds.

Just another crummy day in The Workers' Paradise--mid 60's highs, low 40's lows. That's about what it's like here from now until mid-March, interrupted by occasional rains, brief snows 1-2 times a year when Mother Nature gets bored, and the Rose Parade--which, by the way, is largely responsible for the current conditions hereabouts. All of you folks in the Siberian East and the Great White North (EH!) see the La Canada/Flintridge pullets in bikinis draped across those floats on New Year's Day, and by Feb. 1 we have a quarter-million New Californians--EVERY YEAR. Ice Refugees & Frostbacks GO HOME!

There, I feel better now.

I could say something about all those New Californians, but don't want to jeopardize my forum membership.

It is a good thing we did not get the snow here yesterday. The temps have dropped all day and are supposed to bottom out at +5 degrees. If we had snow we'd be well below zero. It's makin' ice now!

Just came in from feeding the birds their on the ground feed. Sue got up an hour before I did and already brought in the suet feeder log, packed it with ground venison suet and peanut butter and put it back out. I said it's pitch black out. She said, "Well they're going to be hungry." Anyway, it's just starting to show traces of light in the sky now and the cardinals will be the first ones in, and I am sure they will be hungry after a cold windy night.

It only got down to +10 so it is nippy but not brutal out. A little zephyr from the north just to make me glad I had an old OD watch cap on my follicley challenged melon.

Twenty six degrees this AM. :sigh: Clear skies and light wind out of the SSE. Suppose to make it all the way up to 45 degrees. good thing it's only temporary. Twenty nine for a low tonight. Last night of the freezing temps for a good while.

Well we got 6” of snow instead of the predicted 4 inches. That 6 inches is on top of the 1/2” or 1” that we would get every third day or so which wasn’t enough to shovel, plow or use the snowblower for. So now there’s 10 to 12 inches which needs my attention as more is on the way.
Was going to finish up the frame repair on my “vintage” travel trailer rebuild, but I broke a thread tap yesterday afternoon which is holding up the project till I can make a town run. But winter handed me a batch of work that requires my full attention for today.

One of the snow blowing chores is doing the dog yard. Biscuit likes to crap in one corner in particular and one the blower gets in there it’s like being in a shooting gallery. Frozen turds going everywhere bouncing off the chain link fence. Definitely wearing a hat and keeping your mouth shut helps.
