What is your weather today?

keep e'm under a fluorescent light in the garage.
my 'grow' light is a cool blue and a yellow fluorescent lamp in the same housing hung from a chain by a half taped up broken window that faces east.
3-4 days under a fluorescent light won't hurt anything.

Norfork Lake level is controlled by the Army Corps of Engineers. It has over 550 miles of shoreline and is over 160 foot deep. After the recent storms, the lake level rose two feet and will continue to rise from the subsequent runoff. The normal pool is 550 feet. Flood pool is 578 feet. Almost every year, after the spring rains, were approaching flood stage.................that's about a 26' rise in lake level. It will stay that way till late Fall. That's the reason, only floating docks are allowed by permits.

Nope . . . Not today. Today is the kind of weather ya wait for. Upper 70's, bright sunshine, light breeze and low humidity. What's not to love?

Cindy just told me that the current lake level is ten feet above the normal pool. Rose another foot in the last 24 hours from runoff. We're a little under what we had the same time last year.

Alaska Land of the Midnight Sun
Don’t return to Alaska till Monday, but, currently in the Fairbanks area it’s snowing, 28* and has been all night.
still a lot of snow on the ground from what my neighbors say.
Looks like it will be back up into the 50’s by Monday. Lots of snow to get melted yet. Great for keeping fires at bay and breeding mosquitoes

Came home from Up North and watched the temps rise all the way home. We left St. Germain with 49 degrees and got home 4 1/2 hours later and it was 81. Put stuff away and jumped on the Indian and tootled around for 65 miles and saw 88 as the highest. Drove through a rain shower and watched the temps drop to 75 and 10 miles later we were back to 88. I guess rain really is endothermic.

Got a semi decent thunderstorm last night for some much needed rain, however we failed to deploy the rain gauge so we really don't know what we got. The heaviest band of storms slid north of us.

Friend came back from Calico Rock 2 week fishing trip - too much water, Said they got flooded out @ 3AM, lost a tent and bunch of gear. Waist deep - waded out - cold and dirty river water. He thought it was just run-off but usually it comes from COE opening a gate on Norfolk. Buffalo had a big 10' wave for the kayakers.

We just had the eight wettest April in recorded history.

And not only that but it rained a lot too. :( On the bright side it isn't supposed to rain again . . . Until tonight and all day tomorrow.

Calico Rock is about 45 minutes, south of me. The wading fly fishermen aren't very happy when the Corps opens the dam gates. They have sirens that go off to warn the fishermen, so they don't get swept off their feet. Cindy kayaks both the White and Buffalo Rivers. They check websites for the amount of flow, before they go. Most of the Summer, the Buffalo doesn't have enough water to float.

Ok; I'm starting to see the real Spring change; Nights in the 50's and high's 60's to 70's. Not a lot of sun, but good weather to acclimatize seedlings!
Long range looks to favor the plants!
May even try to get a tomato or two planted in the round garden next week

I guess rain really is endothermic.

You ought to see what it does in the desert . The rain falls out of 20kft hits the ground on a 105° day at about 45° . Under the cell the temp will will come down into the low 80s where the evaporation kicks in and sucks it down into the 60 s . I drove home once , crossed a 7400 ft summit where it was 101° dropped down to the valley shoulder about 5200 ft where the rain started at 114° , a half mile later it was 65° . It stayed about out to about 750 past the rain line around 4400' where it jumped back to 104° . Funny thing about rain in the desert , you can be in a full blown down pour and it's still only 65-70% humidity .

Now you know how folks freeze to death in the desert when it's 90+ every day and high 60s over night .
