Wheel weights make my bullets to big

Straight wheel weights make my bullets to big using my NOE bore rider bullet mold. Using lead with a bhn of 8(lee tester)makes them about the perfect size, but I'm afraid they will lead the bore terrible. I do have 1 lb of tin to mix with it. Not sure if that will add much hardness or not. Also have some linotype to use but with the antimony I'll be back to square one. School me on this...

Not enough info to school you on this. What are you shooting? What are you shooting at?

Hardness is not the answer regardless.
243 cal. Shooting at nothing yet. Bullets wouldn't fit.. appreciate your reply..

So, welcome to the NOE bullet mould club. All his designs cast fat. I've always mixed wheel weight lead 50/50 with pure lead and added about an oz of tin per 10 lb of alloy. That seems to get the mould closer to the desired numbers.

Exactly the problem I'm finding. So I guess I'll just add more lead to it Appreciate your reply. This 243 is the hardest rifle I have ever dealt with. Plus the short throat..

You can also use 25% linotype and 75% pure to get similar results. Small bores are much less forgiving than bigger bores for fitment.

Nose sizing was NOT a answer for me.

I cast mine from near 100% LINO. Haven't had issue. But I ONLY punch paper n Steel with a Cast 6mm.

If your not shooting a ton Id suggest same or order proper pure alloy and try them. Im betting its your particular alloy.

I need to get a scale so I can weight my alloy more accurate. Might consider adding some linotype to my soft lead pipe. What do you think 4 lb of lead pipe to 1 lb of linotype will make. Appreciate all the help I've gotten off this site... johnny

Linotype is roughly 4% Tin and 12% Antimony, so you'll make something close to WW+1% Tin.
