Why...

There comes a point where more velocity will decrease penetration on game and can lead to less effectiveness on target, lots of meat loss many times. People are so concerned about the need to shoot flat they get crazy with velocities, many hunts that could have been comfortably done using a 30-30 or 308W are done using a 300Winmag.

Same here, no need to be cast bullet zealot.

Heck, they could have been taking the trapdoor 45-70 and Unique under 405gr factory bullet. Last year, I used my 500 Linebaugh with 450gr WFN and HS-6 going about 123something fps from a 23" MGM barrel. It did everything I wanted it to do. The boolit hit the 20ish doe, went out, blew thru 3" die tree and kept on going. 30ish yards later, the doe was found. Granted, the blood was everywhere, up against the trees, snow and whatnot...I could have took a blind man to track it.

I don't have the 30-30 anymore, but I have JES's 35/30-30 that just luvs 200gr RCBS FNGC and 2400/tuft of Dacron going 1726fps. The deer hate it.

I do have a 30 Herrett in a 10" Contender barrel that shoots a 130gr Speer HP and Reloder 7 that goes about 1800-1900fps.I know for a fact that the 7x30 Waters with 115gr Speer HP in a 14" muzzle brake will go thru a deer's chest, thanks Dad!!!!_RIP.

I went thru my premium bullet phase about 25-30 years ago. I think that premium bullets are not for deer. They are expensive, don't matter if it is a factory ammo or handloader's cartridge. The premium does the same thing as the cup and core bullet. Oh, by the way, did I mention that premium bullets are a premium price?

Their Interbond bullets were a great offering as well as the Interlocks. They were well priced and a great option. Unfortunately the Interbond was cutting in to their newer magic bullet sales so they killed the Interbond. Profit margins were better there.
Tom I’ve never used the interbond bullets I’ve only been using the interlock which are still listed. Had me going there for a moment. But then I realized I had a stockpile of 150’s, 165’s, and 190’s so I’m more than good for this lifetime. My son and grandkids probably will be ok as well because one moose, 2 at the most will feed a family for a year usually.

Horses for courses!

While I could load some .30 cal cast with gas checks for hunting I don’t. I got so many jacketed for the regular deer rifles it’s not funny. Now my .38-55 and .44-40 if I was putting them in deer hunting rotation I’d use cast without batting an eye.

Bullets don’t need to be all that high tech to do the job. I do like the core and jacket to stick together. Not that I lost the deer but my Nosler Ballistic Tips do not stay together. Jacket and core separate easily. The deer as far as I can tell is pretty dead though…….otherwise I wouldn’t know the cup and core parted ways.

Nostler BT's were always known for their fragility............... until you get above 30 caliber. I've shot many in 338 (180 grain) caliber. My 243W Model 70 loves the 55-grain BT.

When I still hunted big game here in Colorado, I always used Nosler Partitions.
Main reason was because the first time I wanted to hand load ammo for my .270 Win to go deer and antelope hunting, Partitions was what the LGS had on the shelf.
They didn't disappoint me so I stuck with them.

just me but i figured the interbond was simply their fragile target bullet bonded to the core.
it sure didn't stop it from fragmenting at 3-K though.
first time i ever seen a deer get shoved sideways by a bullet.

I hunt big game with Jacketed bullets.
I used Nosler Partitions since they were in Ashland.
After I found lead fragments in the pepperonis that I was feeding my Grandkids I changed to Barnes TTSX.
I found their performance to be identical on big game.
I`m talking 25-06 with 100gr. bullets on Blacktail deer.

Shot two ladders today with two bullets.

Both wouldn't allow me to reach book max loads. BLC2 had a shine on case head while Varget had some heavy bolt lift. The 168's just made 2700 while 150's never made 2800. 20" bbl. ALL shot well at 1" ish.
