Photos from a tablet

What is the easiest way to post photos from an Android tablet? My cheapie Android tablet is great for surfing but I could not get a picture in my last post. Had to do it from my desktop. I have tried to upload from the device and can't find anything on the tablet. I tried using Google Drive and pictures show up in menu but are transparent and can't be selected.

I even tried to link to the picture on Google Drive and Google Photos and it looked like it just posted a link and not the photo when I previewed. Would this show up as a picture when I completed the post or would it still just be the link?

Thanks for your help. Android is new to me and it different enough from a PC or Linux to aggravate me to no end. By simplifying everything it seems like they complicate it.

Click "upload file" then "choose file" when the window comes up tap "documents" then when that screen appears in the upper left tap "documents" again and one of the options should be "camera" select that and tap the photo.

It should upload and then right below "post reply" you will see the image, make sure you select "full image" and this should happen 20160202_164132.jpg

Thanks for the reply Josh. That is how it works on my computer but when on my tablet the only option is to enter an URL. There is no option to browse the device. Aggravating!

That is odd, I am running an Android phone and have those options. I am not techie by far, possibly Brad will swing in and help you out!

I am currently using an iPad, can't imagine the android device has a different look, least not enough to matter.

Notice the "upload a file" button below the dialogue box? Click on that.

You then get a pop up box. Click choose file then select the source. Browse thru the files, select the one you want and it is uploaded.

You can then decide if it will be a thumbnail or a full image. These are full images.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Just went and looked again. When I picked the three dots, which I had done several hundred times, i toggled 'Show SD card" and my device storage showed up. I could find the picture under the camera and the Picture folder but they are grayed out and cannot be selected.

Maybe I have a setting wrong. Could Sync being turned off cause something like this? I have it off because I am not really sure how it works and like to have control! Will go back through the settings now.

Brad, Iwas typing my post at the same time as you. I am doing that but all pictures are grayed out. I can select other file types but not photos.

Can you transfer the photo from the SD card to the internal memory and then select it from there? Might not be able to select a file from the SD card?
The iPad doesn't have an SD slot so I'm not sure of that is the problem.

Apparently the SD card is the internal storage as it show the whole internal storage of the device. There is also an external slot so another card could be plugged in.

It is annoying because I can find the pictures on the internal storage but cannot select them as they are grayed out. I am starting to feel old, the world has moved on.

I sent tech support, my little brother, a message. Kevin should be able to help. Dang technology just doesn't tell us what we need to do!

It could be a problem with the software here. I just tried posting a picture at the old site, CB, and the pictures on my device are not grayed out(transparent) and allows me to insert in a post.

Quite a poser.

Thanks for your quick help with this.

Any idea what format the pictures are in? It may be your device is using a format that isn't enabled here.

Kevin, they are JPG. Everything works as it is supposed to over on the other forum, either from the tablet or from Google Photos or Drive. On this site I can see the pictures but they are transparent and can't be selected. It seems all other files such as documents work fine, only have a problem with photos.

How big are the files? You may be running in to a file size limitation.

You may be able to take a screen shot of the image on your tablet & upload it that way. I'm using an Android phone & can do it that way but....
This site in particular requires most of my pics be sized down. A free photo sizer app does populate in the list for uploading on mine. The app "reduce photo size" is free & works for me. Mine won't populate for the gallery. It will let me upload screen shots or the resizer app.
Another thing worth a try is look at your browser menu and see if you can change it "desktop view" sometimes that makes a difference for me too.
The problem is the android interface. They've moved to a little different configuration & those of us with couple year old equipment may have issues. There's usually a resolution.

Yeah, I've got image size constraints a bit tight here. The reason is that doing so helps keep hosting costs down, and since Brad is paying for this out of pocket, I try to keep that in mind.

Freebullet- I am running desktop view. No pictures can be uploaded.

Kevin, the picture is the one in my primer thread and is 128k. No problem putting it up from my desktop. What is the max file size by the way? I am using Puffin for a browser. I think I will try another browser and see what happens.

Got it! The uploading works perfect with the generic browser on the tablet and Chrome as well. Puffin was a causing the problem with not being able to double space for paragraphs as well without engaging the rich text editor each time even though my settings were set to use it.

Thanks for your time and help fellow members! Beware of problems with Puffin. I started using it because of problems playing videos on some sites. Not porn!
