Road trip from Fairbanks Alaska to Arkansas

Well got going this morning about 9 leaving the RV Park construction headed back to New Albany to rendezvous with Beth Ann to do a walk through of the house they are buying. Big house, 4,200 square foot, 6 bedroom, 5 bathroom place on 2 acres. Pretty nice, quiet neighborhood.


Moving van is supposed to be here any minute.
We got tucked away in back.



So kinda nice setting, pond out back, these guys call it a lake, but, it’s a pond.

What happened to the place with all the acreage you mentioned?

That place fell through. The appraisal came in about $150K lower than the asking price and the owner wouldn’t come down at all. That was 53 acres.
There’s 3 acres behind this house and Beth is looking into buying that.

Yeah it would be, but, I am not going to be an owner. Just An occasional visitor.

$150K lower than the asking price - yup, not making anymore land these days. And in Ar, much of it is VERTICAL.

Yeah but this is in Mississippi, kinda flat.

Minneapolis Minnesota is at 1100' msl which is where the Mississippi River makes the hard right and heads for New Orleans. What that translates to is just about 1' of fall per mile from Minni/St Paul to the Gulf of Mexico. Useless trivia . Yep Mississippi River and most of its 25-150 mile wide valley Is pretty flat.

Well the moving company has a long tractor and a 53’ trailer. Driver, owner-operator tried to back into a 10’ driveway from a 20’ road with very little shoulder, more ditch than shoulder. Valiant effort. But no joy. Plan B, rent a 16’ and a 24’ u-haul vans besides the 14’ van on loan from the Realtor. Transferred at a location fairly close. Watched them unload the 24’ knowing there was a 16’ right behind and 2 each 14’ loads last night.
This is entertainment to the max. Exciting to watch and stay a way from.
