supposed to snow here in a couple of days, but since it can't make up it's mind it snowed and sunshined and winded and hailed and cold... i guess it forgot to rain,,, which is what it is supposed to be doing.

I cast some 10mm 200's this afternoon.

I finished the bedding on the 8mm this AM and started bedding the 782. While that was drying I opened the barrel channel in the Marlin 880sq Pro Varmint stock. Full free float now.

Fishing trip was kind of a bust. High winds, white caps, tough boat control. Sue's hands were hurting right from the get go. Probably because of all the physical work we did Sunday and Monday. The weather was no where near what had been forecast. On the water we were a touch cool. After an hour Sue gave up. I caught two white bass and a walleye all released. Four hours of driving for one hour of fishing.
We did get a nice soft serve twist cone though later.

Made the attachments to allow the HF trailer I refurbished to be folded up and stored vertically again. When you pay $50 for a trailer, you can't expect all the pieces to be there. And most of the HF trailers I've seen for sale used are normally missing these pieces.

A couple pieces of 2 inch angle iron, 4 casters from HF, drilling, tapping and a little welding and it was good to go. Using the rear folding section as a weight offset, lifting the trailer up on end is a snap. Just hang that back section off a rope and lift from the front. Easy even for a 72 year old like me. Now, I can store the trailer in the barn at the lake during the summer and it won't take up much room.

I did get a dose of humility when I pulled out my Lincoln welder. I went to a hobby level welding school that lasted 2 weeks when I was in my 20's. I got to be pretty damn good with a stick welder. I don't use it much anymore since I picked up a 120VAC MIG welder. Well, this steel needed 220VAC so out came the Lincoln. My stick welding skills have severely deteriorated. I was able to weld over my first welds, which were downright fugly. They look better now but are far from perfect. Nobody will see them but me so they'll do.

I pull the caster brackets off and put a coat of primer on them. Next will be a coat of gloss white to match the rest of the trailer.

I compare machinist skills to rifle shooting and welding to pistol shooting. I can be away from a machine for years and still retain 90% of my skill, same with a rifle. If I go a few months w/o welding I’ve lost 90% of my skill. Same with a handgun.

Some skills degrade quicker than others.

Well I finally went to the Chiropractor today! Just what my wife guessed My L5 Vertebra is spitting out the disk! That explains why every time I sneeze , cough or clear my throat I scream like a teenage girl ( which is driving my wife crazy!) well it is no picnic for me either..........
Looks like a regimen of 5 more visits until it is under control. Todays 1st visit looks promising already ....I may go out this evening and try to work in the yard ( A job that I put off this morning and afternoon)

Though not nearly as painful as what Jim is enduring -- poor man -- this morning I pulled/strained/did something to the groin muscle area. That put the kibosh on anything I was going to do for the rest of the day, and I'm down to my last book and it's not all that engaging so I'm discomfortably bored.

I ruptured that disk between L4 and L5 16 years ago. While the goo is leaking out of the disk it puts pressure on the sciatic nerve bundle, especially the peroneal nerve. That nerve separates from the sciatic bundle just above (or below, can't remember) the knee. Typical to have pain down the front of the thigh, behind the knee and down the calf. My calf muscle was in perpetual spasm for years.

Every 2 to 4 years one of the muscles adjacent to the vertebral column spasms and I end up bedridden for most of a week and on crutches for another week or more.

Be careful of lifting, as this seems to further compress my vertebrae even more than they are already, resulting in more nerve pain down the left leg.

Wednesday, I drove 60 miles to pick up some mill ends to make songbird house kits for our Orgon Hunters Association youth day.
I stopped in Grants Pass for a couple of pair of pants, a tank of gas, some groceries and had a nice Chinese dinner.
Yesterday I stacked a cord of wood, planted some potatoes, pulled the blades off my riding mower to sharpen them.
I finally found the easy way to access the blades.
Lift the front end of the mower 2 ft in the air with the come along.
That gives me plenty of room to get to the blades.
The tough part for me these days is getting up and down.
Talk about Geezer Hood.

You've been busy. I sometimes lift the front end of my mowers with a chain and forks on the front end loader of my tractor. I've also used one of the electric hoists I have mounted in the trusses of my other pole shed. I used them to lift my hover craft off the trailer when working on it. Now I've sold the HC but still find uses for the hoists occasionally. They were inexpensive at Harbor Freight and offer great control.

I got 30 miles in on the bicycle under leaden skies last night. Got passed twice by the fast group, which contains a few folks even older than my 56 years. My blood pressure occasionally gets stupid and gets a little high, but it's good for a few hours to a day or two after I ride. That's one of several reasons I keep doing this.
