Plug and receptical but I don't what to do about plumbing , a street "L" gets a pass maybe nipples too but what do we do about glue/sweat fittings where double female to IPS is needed an heaven help if you need a coupling or a union . Positive and negative are already DC electric and not even vaguely similar . It's only a matter of time before AC/DC is a derogatory not a proper noun . TV is already shaky .

Lots of birds in the back yard eating weed seed, thank you. Crazy squirrel dug up an acorn couple days ago, went back to same spot, finally gave up.

After many years of reading Brad's touting of his 24-grains of 2400 along with a 405-grain cast bullet and his .45-70 Marlin, I thought it was time for the Pedersoli/Navy Arms rolling blocks to give it a try. In the last post in which Brad spoke of the load, Fiver happened to mention 20-grains of 2400, so decided to try that load, as well.

This morning's range session proved that Brad's load would make a good short range hunting load, but Fiver's makes an super-duper accuracy load. From 50-yards, 10 rounds of Lyman's 457193 405-grainer and 24-grains of 2400 printed a 4" pattern, but ten rounds with 20-grains grouped nine in just over an inch, with seven in just over .7", and a called flyer another 1" higher.

Target was a 5 1/2" bull on which I added a fluorescent red 1 1/2" paster. Sight are a Lyman globe with a post and ball and an anonymous Vernier tang, and the rifle has a 30" half-octagon/half-round bull barrel. At 50-yards the paster is a wee bit smaller than the front sight's ball. Taking into account my previously stated vision I'm very happy with the 20-grains load . . . it's a for sure keeper. I have a set of Lee Shaver inserts, but the post and ball is too fine and I have a difficult time picking up the ball. Maybe it needs more range time.

Thanks Brad! Thanks Fiver! Where do I send the money?

Why not fiver? He will just waste the money of frivolous stuff like fishing gear, lunch for the grandkid, and such.

I would use it for my retirement!

And the fact you found the loads to be useful is payment enough. for me. He is kinda greedy

I don't recall having used any 2400 in my 45/70s. I DO LIKE IMR-4198, 28.0 grains of that gives blackpowder velocities and good accuracy in most of the rifles I've tried it with.

4198 is a powder I just don’t buy. Those long sticks are a nightmare in a measure. I generally use RE7 instead for those needs.

Got any 2400? 24 gr with a 405-420 gr cast bullet in 45-70 is a very good load.

Fishing gear and lunch for the grandson are important, so his payment is just waiting a mailing address.

Regarding your retirement: Doesn't that huge nationwide pharmacy offer a lucrative one? If not, I'll fall sucker like I did for that other site's scammer.

Oh, I will be in fine shape after I retire.

Fiver would never take money for helping a guy.

Oh, man, now along comes another guy hawking his .45-70 load and hoping for an endowment.

That's it, I'm not listening to any more .45-70 loads. I don't care if they've been scientifically proven to produce clean-cut .459" 100-yard groups. I don't care if an 8-pound jug of powder and a sleeve of primers are sent for testing purposes. Really.

we got a range here for nothing but 22lr, I avoid the place like the plague because I don't want to shoot across the cement and end up on my ass in the mud.
I don't know where everyone gets their ammo but there certainly seems to be no shortage of empties.

wasted more time with that stupid mold today.
moved over to the lee pot, with the 50-50 mix of 4/6 and ww with 1% tin in it and gave it a run.
I have never seen a mold get so hot so fast in my life, 2 pours and cool with a wet rag, about 1/3rd of the time the second pour was frosting and rounding the middle bands.
they're 50% junk anyway, but nice and blindingly bright shiny.
time to break out the lapping screw I guess.

Picked up 44 .223/5.56 empties this morning. Could've had more but the camoflauged rifle shooter who was blasting away with his camoflauged black rifle got there just before I had to head back home. Oh, well at least he's a California gun owner.

Yep, and I got the scar to prove it, Brother.
Heard the horror stories myself. My friends older sister has a nice jagged scar on her cheek from a snowmobile going through barb wire fence. Work hard play hard I guess. Ya take your chances.
